I am the National Travel Ball Representative to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). ?Currently we have 40 NFCA members from Ohio from the travel ball community. ?There are a lot of great travel ball organizations in the state that I'm sure would benefit from membership in the association.

The NFCA is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play.

The idea for a softball coaching association first developed from discussions at the National Collegiate Women's Softball Championships in the early 1980s. Although mostly collegiate coaches comprised the organization's membership in the early days, today's college coaches are joined by high school and travel ball/club coaches, umpires, as well as other fans of fastpitch softball. In 1997, the Association's membership reached the 2,000 mark, and today there are more than 4,100 members.

Besides services offered to the membership, the NFCA works with USA Today in producing polls for NCAA Division I and high school softball. In addition, NCAA Division II and Division III polls are produced. The NFCA also conducts collegiate tournament competitions, as well as recruiting camps throughout the nation. An annual NFCA National Convention is held every December.

Annual membership fees are $70 for Travel Ball coaches. ?

All Members Receive
? 16 issues of the NFCA's own newspaper - Fastpitch Delivery.
? Annual copies of the NFCA Directory and Calendar (sent every December).
? Special discounts in the NFCA Web Store on videos, audios, books, softball equipment, clothes and more.
? Professional networking opportunities.
? Discounted prices to the NFCA National Convention and the National
? Fastpitch Coaches College courses.
? Representation of ideas to educational and softball governing bodies.
? Special access to member-only features on the NFCA Web site.

Additional Benefits
Travel Ball/Club Coaches ?
? Receive liability insurance coverage
o $1,000,000 per occurrence of bodily injury liability, property damage liability, and litigation cost to defend such claims.
? Are eligible for national coaching staff of the year honors
? Head coaches also are recognized through the Victory Club.

Besides being the NFCA rep, I also coach an 18U travel team, the Heartbreakers, from Maryland and I'm also the President of the Heartbreakers. ?The coaches in our organization have benefitted greatly through the membership in the NFCA. ?Let me know if you have any questions regarding the NFCA. ?

I am a travel/club coach in SW Ohio with a new 16U team. I was advised to join NFCA by my daughters pitching coach. I was unable to get the page to display through the link listed on your OFC posting.

Would you mind responding with the best method to join.

Thanks...Mark C

mcoburn, it displays nicely for me. Do you have a pop-up blocker turned on or is your browser security set REALLY high? Maybe others will have some additional suggestions.

Alternately, go to NFCA.ORG. On the left side is a button for Member Benefits. At the bottom of the page is a to join click here. This should get you to the enrollment page.

Good luck this year and have fun!

No problem. If you are going to the NFCA course at OSU at the end of next month, we'll probably have a table or a room at Damon's for dinner one of the nights.
