Way to go ladies! Keep up the hard play and enjoy the weather.

The NKU Norse are currently 4-2 in Kissimmee and are playing at a high level, and this is without their starting number three and four hitters. April Ehlers struck out 18 batters in seven innings yesterday against Dowling, which stands second all-time in the NCAA for strikeouts in a seven-inning game! The Norse still have six games left in Kissimmee and the weather is predicted to be perfect.

Good luck to the ladies, and coaches Kathy, Chip, Molly, and Karen. Continue to play and coach with confidence and assertiveness!

Keep it up NKU! April and Chelsie seem to be pitching their a$$es off this season! I saw them pitch alot last year, and it seems they has improved quite a bit in the offseason. April's control seems to still be a tad shaky, and she is still giving up some HRs, but it's great to see the opposing teams' BA against her is below .200 - keep it up, girls. I'm just curious why the transfer Pitcher from Urbana (Finley) has not pitched a single inning yet, tho.

Finley also has only four official at-bats so my guess is that she is injured.

Finley took a pitch off her throwing hand while they were in Alabama. Haven't heard the final determination, but the initial diagnosis was a fractured finger. At least a couple of the HRs April gave up were thrown low and inside (right where she wanted them), but the girls adjusted.

Congrats to the Norse!!!

Looks like the shaking of the lineup has the team playing very well. Not to mention it only makes sense to have the person who led your team in hitting the last 2 years hitting 2nd for the RBI spots coming behind her. Bottom of the order has done very well too.

Something got into Ehlers earlier this week. So-So weekend, wakes up to 18 on Monday. And Roy seems to always throw well and kill innings.

Finley & her finger I believe are day to day. Probably depends on the amount of pain she can deal with.

Update:

NKU was in two tough games Wednesday and split, winning against Saginaw Valley State in extra innings 2-1 and losing a tough game to Palm Beach Atlantic 1-0, then busted out the sticks and continued their stifling pitching on Thursday with wins against #7 Ferris State 5-0 and Wheeling Jesuit 6-1. According to Chip, the pitching has been off the hook! It looks like the hitting is starting to gel as well. :)

Keep up the great play ladies! :yahoo:

Talked with the DD a little after the games today. Nothing like getting a chance to get a little revenge for a loss earlier in the week.

Is she having fun in the sun? I also noticed she had an official at-bat today......and must have made contact.

Having fun, but wanting more time on the field and trying hard to earn it - hard going from senior to freshman. Her at bat today went down as a FC, but she felt okay about it as she (and Chip) felt that she would have been safe if they would have had to make the play to first - hit the ball hard past the pitcher and to left of second base, but the SS was coming over to cover the steal and was able to field it for the out at second.

Hey...if you make good contact then you are dangerous. It is tough for any freshman fielder to break into the lineup. I'm sure she'll continue to practice and play hard, and keep up her great attitude. Stay hungry Rachael and your time will come!

p.s.
Hey Chip
Rachael May.....wants to play!
(my feeble attempt to help another OFC'er)
