O.T. - 3rd shift stinks!

Have worked night shift a a hospital for years and have to admit that night shift has to be my favorite, even though I do believe that it probably takes years off your life. Both of my daughters have played 3 different sports and I have been lucky enough to attend most all of their games/meets. Weekends for softball have been tricky as I have had to work all night and then drive 3 hours to a tournament with no sleep. Its also not uncommon to be up for 36 hours straight, but if it means I get to attend their games, its worth it. You just have to sleep when you can. A couple more years of doing this, then maybe I will go back to a normal shift. Oh the things we do for our children!

Here you go wgman http://www.crawlersmileys.com/show_smiley.aspx?d=1&sm=Winking smiley:9459

You have to download a toolbar that will show up at the top of your screen under your google or aol toolbar. It comes with extra features that you can delete if you don't need them.

Then, when you want to add a smilie that our reply tool doesn't have---you just click the smiley button and choose which one you want and it will show up wherever your cursor is.

Only issue I have is that it wants to add on an advertisement for itself at the bottom of all your posts---I just go down and delete it all before I submit reply. (I'll leave it at the bottom of this one so y'all can see and/or download it if ya want. ;))

You can disable the advertisement in the options meu.

I worked almost 11 years on midnights and hated every minute of it. Now i have spent the last 5 years on a rolling swing shift:( lol. sure makes me long for the good old midnights when I at least felt half normal:D:D

Don't complain too much about 3rd shift until you try my DH's schedule. Starting on a Tuesday - he starts with 7 straight days of 2nd shift. Gets 2 days off (Tues-Wed.) and then works 7 straight days of 1st shift. Gets Thursday off (sorta) and starts 7 straight 3rd shift days on Thursday night, which brings you to his one weekend off every month. It is a four day weekend though. 26 years of this so far. Talk about messing up your circadian rhythms - how many years do you think that takes off your life.

I feel for you guys, did it for years. Just think, your time will come where you can get up when you want, travel the area to watch different softball games, and play on the OFC website!!! Life is good. Just think, at least you guys have a job to work 3rd shift OT - some don't have that. I know, sometimes you wish you didn't when at 4:00 a.m. your eyes are blurry, you are yawning non-stop and you have drank so much coffee you are going to the bathroom every ten minutes. Hang in there and count the taxes that came out when you get your check.. THE NATIONAL DEBT IS WHAT!!!!!

Worked the midnight shift for 17 years until this year 2008;went to dayshift Now just do a 40 hour work week. Able to attend all sports of both dd's. Feel like a normal person. Able to hold on to my sick days and floating holidays throughout the year. Life is good on dayshift. You should give it a try.
