Well you pretty much have unlimited access to OFC, what more could you want. Just lock up and turn out the lights when you leave, think I'll call it a night.

I filled in for someone on thrid shift for a week. It nearly killed me. I worked 2nd shift for a year. You get good sleep but it seems like half the people on the planet just disappeared. You can still have a life on third shift, but your former life is over if you go on 2nd.

3rd shift is great! You don't miss any Fri. games. But, on the flip-side Sunday nights can be a real challenge if you make it to the Big dance!

I have worked 3rd shift for a year, I haven't missed any of my kids games (School) and try to schedule my vacation around summer ball. I wouldn't go back to 1st or 2nd shift until kids are out of school.

Also, I work 7 and off 7

Once I got used to it, I loved it. The only bad thing was the weekends when the kids & husband couldn't be quiet to save their lives.

I worked 3rd shift at a hospital for 4-5 years before going back to 1st shift recently when my wife had our twin babies in April. I had no trouble whatsoever adjusting back to the normal sleep pattern, but during 3rd shift, I made it to every one of my 13-y.o. DD's school games since they usually started at 4:30pm. Now, I have to be creative with my schedule, as I typically work 6a-6pm. I do miss the 3rd shift $$$, though, and I miss not having an occasional 'manager' over my shoulder. :-(

Been on 3rd for 15 years its great for sports or school things but can't wait for that great day of 1st shift. My kids will probably be grown and gone before that day happens. :(

For me I just miss having the normal life and being home at night with the family. Usually haft to leave around 10pm to make it on time. Friday mornings are great when I can get out of here and make all the friday tournament games. Like mentioned above when you play late most sunday evenings (lord knows we did that alot touring with the Doom this past summer) I had to burn many vacation days since there was no way in heck I was traveling 3 1/2 hours back home then go to straight into work. Maybe in my younger days, LOL!

I had the taste of 1st shift for a year (last year) and needless to say that was the bomb!!!!! Miss those days!
Yeah it is nice to get on the OFC site and many others at night, but nothing like sleeping when it is dark out and not while it is 80 degrees and sunny outside..................

Just me pouting in the middle of the night! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on 3rd shift for the last couple years and it is good for aming all the games, but I was also on weekends and that made for some 36- to 40+ hour stretches just to be at the tourney's. I have just recently made it to 1st shift and i live being home at night, but I don't know how well tourneys will work out because I still have to work one weekend day. Atleast on 3rd I could make to everything, I just did not get to sleep!!

I'm an Rn at a busy inner city hospital and worked 7p-7:30a for 11 yrs. Switched to days 9yrs ago and never looked back, lol.

I've read/heard that working night shift messes with your circadian rhythms so badly that it literally takes years off your life---and I absolutely believe it. I had to paint the walls of my bedroom a dark forest green and matching mini-blinds for the windows---my sisters called it the "Bat Cave", lol.

People who have never worked the night shift have no idea. You get home at 8am and get to bed at about 9:30 after getting the kids some breakfast---try to sleep with the neighbor's lawn mower going outside your window, phone ringing with sales calls (or even your own family who knows you worked the night before).

Then, just as you hit your REM sleep (about noon), your kids come into the bedroom---"Mom, haven't you slept enough, yet? Are you gonna get up?"---which I could handle if I didn't have to go back into work that evening, lol.

I was seriously sleep-deprived for years. I often felt like I had a hangover (and I don't even drink), and sometimes my hands would actually shake.

Switching to days literally saved my life. I always thought working nights was better for my kids (believed they wouldn't even hardly know I was gone). Later found out my kids preferred to have me home at night, anyway, lol.

thanks kate , now i am googling what the heck a circadian rhythm is !!

LOL!

Awww mr freeze---just means the natural biological clock that all animals (yes, we are animals) have that tell them when to sleep, wake, and eat.

Many folks feel it's pull in the afternoon at about 1-2pm when they get drowsy and want/need a nap.

Tell your boss---"It's not the turkey sandwich I had for lunch, blame it on my circadian rhythm."

Here you go wgman http://www.crawlersmileys.com/show_smiley.aspx?d=1&sm=Winking smiley:9459

You have to download a toolbar that will show up at the top of your screen under your google or aol toolbar. It comes with extra features that you can delete if you don't need them.

Then, when you want to add a smilie that our reply tool doesn't have---you just click the smiley button and choose which one you want and it will show up wherever your cursor is.

Only issue I have is that it wants to add on an advertisement for itself at the bottom of all your posts---I just go down and delete it all before I submit reply. (I'll leave it at the bottom of this one so y'all can see and/or download it if ya want. ;))
