COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State softball team will host the 16th-annual Ohio Collegiate Charity Classic Sept. 24-25. And this year, fans will have a special opportunity to see the Scarlet and Gray go up against a team of professionals. The USSSA Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch league will take on Ohio State on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 12:45 p.m. inside Buckeye Field.

"The softball community in central Ohio has always been extremely supportive of all that we do and I know this year will be no different. [FONT=&]This past summer, the Pride advanced to the NPF championship series before eventually falling to the Chicago Bandits. The organization won NFP titles in 2013 and 2014 and have played in the championship series in each of the last four years. Admission to the Ohio State-USSSA Pride game will consist of a $10 donation to the Stefanie Spielman Fund.

[FONT=&]Included on the Pride's roster for this month's game will be Lauren Chamberlain, an All-American at Oklahoma who finished her career with an NCAA record 95 home runs and .960 slugging percentage, and Hannah Rogers, a four-time All-American for Florida and the Most Outstanding Player at the 2014 Women's College World Series.

[FONT=&]As in past years, games at the OCCC will be played both at Fred Beekman Park, located on the Ohio State campus, and Buckeye Field. The event, which the Buckeyes have hosted since the 2001 campaign, has become one of the largest fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in central Ohio.

[FONT=&]A total of 21 teams will represent Ohio in an event that has raised over $200,000 in the past 15 years for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Of the 21 teams, 14 of them will be representing Ohio from schools, including: Ohio State, Bowling Green, Ashland, Otterbein, Dayton, Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Wright State, Rio Grande, Ohio Dominican, Toledo, Walsh, Oberlin and Ohio Valley.

[FONT=&]Following its matchup against the Pride, Ohio State will split its team into two squads on Sunday - OSU Scarlet and OSU Gray. Gray faces Walsh at 9:30 a.m. at Buckeye Field with Team Scarlet going up against Toledo at 11:45 a.m., also at Buckeye Field. Ohio State opens play the weekend of Sept. 23-25 with a Scarlet vs. Gray game at Buckeye Field beginning at 6 p.m. Afterwards, the team will hold its annual ice cream social.
