I read a post a few months ago where people were complaining with all the teams calling themselves premier, platinum, gold, elite, or showcase and i want to know what's up with all the tournaments calling themselves college showcase or invitational and jacking up the entry fee to $600 to $750? Then they want another $150 plus for some recruiting workout the day before the tournament. There should be some kind of regulation on how many college coaches are gonna be in attendance before you claim to be a showcase. now if you are a true showcase with several college coaches in attendance at each level i.e. d1,d2,d3, or whatever i hope you have thick enough skin to not get offended by this post but i have entered tournaments and went and watched tournaments where you see only 2 or 3 all weekend and there making it out to be a showcase and charging $600 plus for the weekend. PARENTS..... PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE, do your homework on these recruiting services, i have taken my team,my daughter, and even other girls from my teams to college camps and even to these recruiting events and made the mistake of giving out my info. to one that i obviously shouldn't have and now these people call me 3 to 5 times a week at all hours of the day trying to promise me all kinds of things that they can't back up for a fee. There used to be only a few "true showcases in ohio" and now everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon to able to charge whatever they can get. i just had to explain to one of my parents how this works because they wanted to know why we weren't jumping in this tournament or that tournament because they claim to be a showcase. i think every 14u and 16u teams should hit some showcases if it is a true showcase, but regular tournaments used to be between $375 and $450 depending on the venue but now everyone wants $575 to $750 and it's not gonna stop unless us coaches and parents stop attending these gimmick events. I always read things on here like when does the fundraising stop? It's not going to if we keep paying these high prices for tournaments. i remember when team fees were $500 to $600 unless you were a true showcase team heading out of state alot. Now, i know in teams that don't leave the state but maybe one time are asking $900 to $1250 plus for team dues plus mandatory fundraising. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK........... RANT OVER

Steve, several orgs and showcases do this. These things happen all over the country. It's up to the parents whether or not to attend these camps and pay the additional fee. DD's has been to a couple in Crown Point with the Beverly Bandits running it and was well worth the price. This has even been going on in Ohio for quite some time.
