high velocity makes up for a lot of missed spots...
not if you miss over the plate it doesnt, calling pitches these days even at 10u you have to strategize you cant just throw gas by everyone the other team will time her up no matter what

Before I weigh in on speed -- How accurate in comparison is a Rev Fire Ball to measure speed vs. Radar Gun?

RevFire is typically 1-2 MPH slower than a radar gun because it is based on average speed instead of top speed.

If thats true - What make's them a good line-up?

I guess you have to believe, like I do, that good pitching beats good hitting.

I get your point but I had I spoke in absolutes and hyperbole and used terms like "always" and "dominate" instead of "typically" and "more effective", your rebuttal would carry more weight with me.

I agree - I believe good pitching beats good hitting -

but I thought the senerio you were sugesting with the term Powerpitching was the same one offered by FastJay "high velocity makes up for a lot of missed spots..." (which I inferred to mean Fast but wild)

Thats why I was asking what would make them a good team if they were not being patiant and taking their pitches till they got one to drive. I think I was mistaken on your point.

It will also depend on the gun -

Gun?? Who actually uses a gun to see speed? At 12u and up, most pitcher's look "fast." The older the players get, it's how effective the pitcher is in a game situation, that really matters. I think most good pitcher's have their own reasons for being effective in games, sometimes it's just the ability to stay calm and work hard while feeling the pressure.

This is TRUE ^^^

I think every Pitcher shoud read Kipling - This is what it takes to be a good pitcher:

If?

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Pitcher, my Girl!

- Rudyard Kipling

i agree Cobb, mental is the biggest part of it.

FASTJAY defense wins championships I prefer the spins and locations, I have a dd that only throws a 2 seam fastball, 4 seam fastball and a good change up we really mix things up. She doesn't walk to many strikes out a few and makes the team put the ball in play, mostly with weak pop ups or dribblers to the infielders. I think at a younger age you should focus on location then as she gets bigger and stronger then you start working on speed.
