JOHNSON CITY — Mia Edwardson collected five RBIs on a pair of first-inning home runs Tuesday, powering Science Hill to a 16-1, four-inning rout of Volunteer in Big 7 Conference softball play. One of three Lady Hilltoppers to bat 3-for-3, Edwardson cleared the fence with three- and two-run shots. She later doubled and finished with three runs. Aided by a three-run Shayna Price homer, Science Hill put up 12 first-inning runs to blow away a 1-0 deficit. Kasey Bennett and Mackenzie Powell each went 3-for-3 for the Lady ’Toppers, who accumulated 14 hits. Bennett doubled, homered, scored three times and collected a trio of RBIs. Pitcher Sejal Neas held the Lady Falcons to three hits. Aliyah Crawley went 1-for-1. Sullivan East 12, Happy Valley 3 ELIZABETHTON — Jillian Shackleford, Samantha Smith and Kylee Wolfe supplied three hits apiece to lead the Lady Patriots. Shackleford was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, Smith scored three times and drove across two runs in a 3-for-5 effort and Wolfe, who also batted 3-for-5, homered and had three runs. Katelyn Loudy chimed in at 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Autumn Gobble knocked in three runs. The Lady Patriots totaled 16 hits. Shackleford threw all five innings for East, giving up two earned runs. She had seven strikeouts against six walks. Leading the Lady Warriors was Kaitlyn Roberts with two doubles, three runs and three stolen bases. Sullivan North 8, North Greene 7, 8 innings KINGSPORT — Answering a four-run North Greene sixth with five runs in the home half of the inning, the Lady Golden Raiders cashed in on a Huskies mistake in the eighth. Abie Potter came in with the winning run on an error on Kaitlyn Vaughn’s popup behind first base. Alyssa Bean, Potter and Heaven Nash had two hits apiece for North, with Bean and Nash contributing two RBIs apiece and Nash homering. Unaka 13, University High 5 JOHNSON CITY — The Lady Junior Bucs couldn’t overcome an eight-run first inning by Watauga Valley Conference leaders. University High’s Kensington Dailey, who allowed six earned runs and recorded four strikeouts from the circle, went 1-for-2 with a run and two walks. Sydney Trosin had a hit and two RBIs. Alaina Alba accounted for two University High runs. Rye Cove 3, Twin Springs 0 CLINCHPORT — The Lady Eagles secured another crucial win in the Cumberland District with the win over their Scott County rivals. Hailey Byington got the win in the circle for Rye Cove (7-5, 4-0). Ashley Smith was 2-for-3, scored two runs and had an RBI. Haley Tomlinson and Byington also had a double each. BASEBALL Wise Central 8, Ridgeview 4 WISE — Zach James and Bryson Collins each had two RBIs for the Warriors in the Mountain 7 District win over the Wolfpack. Noah Bolling and Daniel Lawson also plated a run apiece for Central. Jp Stallard had a solo home run and finished 2-for-3. James also struck out 10 on the mound for the win. Mason Jones had a double and two RBIs for Ridgeview. Abingdon 13, Gate City 3 ABINGDON — The Falcons made quick work of the Blue Devils in a five-inning Mountain 7 win. Thomas Francisco had a big night for Abingdon, hitting two home runs — including a grand slam — and driving in seven runs. He also walked twice. TJ Taylor was 1-for-3 and had three RBIs for the Falcons. Landon Turner was 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk for the Blue Devils. Lee High 11, Union 2 BEN HUR — Lee got its first Mountain 7 District win of the season behind a standout performance from Jonah Hilton, who went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Generals. Tyler Tabor and Jacob Stewart also had two RBIs each for Lee. Bryce Guerrant went 1-for-2 and drove in a run for the Bears. Nate Bailey got the win on the bump for Lee, working six innings and striking out a whopping 13. Elizabethton 9, Sullivan South 1 ELIZABETHTON — Evan Carter struck out eight and gave up six hits and no walks in a complete game for the Cyclones. Carter also went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Ryan Wetzel was 3-for-4 and Logan Estep 2-for-3. Corey Russell had a triple and two RBIs. Marcus Williams batted 3-for-4 to lead the Rebels. Unicoi County 15, Sullivan Central 1 BLOUNTVILLE — Caleb Wilson struck out 11 batters in a winning Three Rivers Conference performance for the Blue Devils. GIRLS SOCCER CENTRAL 3, RIDGEVIEW 0 WISE — Taylor Gentry recorded two goals and Stephanie Whitfield had a pair of saves to secure the Lady Warriors’ Mountain 7 win. Caroline Mullins had the other goal for Central, which got assists from Grace Thompson, Ashlyn Mullins and Mary Stuedemann. John Battle 2, Honaker 0 HONAKER — The Lady Trojans got goals from Madison Chappell and Michaela Monk to seal the nondistrict win over the Lady Tigers. Lily Booher also had an assist for Battle, which travels to Central today for a match against the Lady Warriors in a Mountain 7 showdown. Abingdon 6, Gate City 0 GATE CITY — The Lady Falcons beat Mountain 7 District rival Gate City to record their seventh straight shutout victory. Emily Dorton had three goals and two assists for Abingdon and Claire Bunn tallied a pair of goals and one assist. Gillian Oyos added the other goal for the Lady Falcons. BOYS SOCCER Science Hill 5, Tennessee High 1 BRISTOL, Tenn. — Senior Yong Paek opened the scoring for the Hilltoppers in the first 25 minutes of the Big 7 matchup. Nick Cahoon scored on each side of intermission for the brace. Wise Central 1, Ridgeview 0 WISE — Luke Hubbard accounted for the match’s lone goal, and Peyton Rogers made it stand up by recording a pair of saves in the Warriors’ Mountain 7 victory over the Wolfpack.
