I would just like to take a moment to give props to the quality of softball in the state of Ohio. The Beverly Bandits 16u Demarini team finished runner up at PGF Nationals, and the Bevely Bandits 14u Demarini team finished 3rd (highest finish by a Midwest team at PGF ever).
This is noteworthy because both teams were comprised of numerous Ohio players and out of state players whose teams routinely played in Ohio.
Ohio players on the 16u Beverly Bandits:
Rachel Lewis
Shannon McGee
Alley Ivey
Claire Nicholson
Riley Paxson
Their pitcher Meghan Beaubien from the state of Michigan played in Ohio tournaments with the Wizards Elite and Lasers Purple.
Ohio players on the 14u Bandits:
Tori Wells
Avery Steiner
Kenedy Vrable
Autumn Oehlstrom
Bailey Drapola
Syd Long
These players are out of state kids who played for Ohio travel teams in previous years:
Cheyenne Hindman
Montana Fouts
Erika Williams
Morgan Overaitis played many Ohio tournaments with her Michigan Pride 2000 team.
The success of these young ladies is truly a reflection of the collective efforts of all of us softball coaches, parents and players in and around Ohio.
While we compete against one another on they'd for trophies and in tryouts for players, we should take pause to really appreciate how far we have helped advance the sport of softball in Ohio and the Midwest.
We represent the Beverly Bandits, but I also truly believe we represented those Ohio travel organizations that have been the homes for our girls in the past. Namely, the Thunder Elite, Lasers, Ohio Ice, Cincy Static, and Wizards elite.
The quality of softball in Ohio and the Midwest gets better every year, and because of all of you, our girls can compete on the biggest stage in travel softball.
Let's keep it rolling! Coach Tony Beverly Bandits
