What about the moms catchers? I know we don't have the same items to protect but......
I'm on the third one and can't get the older ones to ever step up and catch. Excuse I pitch not catch. It does get rid of boys pretty quit when I tell them to stay you must "play", which is catch the kid. They haven't lasted. The latest is trying really hard and being brave about it (you should see the look of terror in his eyes, got to get a video) He did take a screw ball in the chin last week that popped out of the glove. He found out softball and baseball are totally different and thank god it hit the glove first.
The sad part is I don't even flinch anymore, I take them in the shins, knees, toes but there is always something I saw wrong first that I'm too busy instructing about it to feel the pain until I try to walk in the door at home. I have broken a foot, probably toes and have had bruises for months literally from one pitch cause I wasn't watching as I was watching feet, glove work, hips, etc. I've learned to be prepared if I have ticked the youngest one off. Told her she needs to get that ticked off in a game.
I have to wear the old folks glasses now, but can't wear them to catch and lighting and background is just great to mess with your mind and the ball.
