I'm looking for 16/18u teams that are playing a higher level - the showcase/exposure teams - in SW Ohio for 2017/2018. I know of a couple and I'm not necessarily looking for an endorsement of one team over another, I just am trying to compile a list so I can do my own research.

**I'm trying to stay within an hour in any direction of the Dayton area

Thanks!

In SWO the best options for showcase schedules at 16u/18u are Doom, Hawks, OFC Heat, Thunder, Static, Xpress. I'm an assistant with Doom Barnes. We focused on a showcase schedule this year & will again next year. Most weekends we see Hawks, OFC Heat, Thunder teams at the same tourneys. That's about the extent in SW Ohio.

It honestly depend on where the player falls... You talking D1 High level- Mid level or the various other divisions of play...

If she s a 14/16U player she has more options. IMO putting a 14U laddie on an 18U team generally does not pan out so, I would look for age specific range teams that fit the players ability.

The first part of a showcase schedule is getting noticed by coaches....What events has she attended so far? I am talking camps clinics etc. As a showcase coach I did have a lot of communication with coaches within my network but an unknown player is not going to get the same attention as on that has been in the system,

How much HIGHER LEVEL are you willing to commit too? We played a national schedule vs. teams from the south and west...The cost was about 800.00 plus travel expenses to Atlanta GA., Texas, Penn. ILL and TN.

If a team says yes we are showcase and they play Fastpitch showdown events, ASA States, Lasers or GAPSS all in one season...You are looking at D2 and lower...

No dog in this fight but if you want to talk about a true proven track record then you need to look at two teams - DOOM and Hawks (Lenos or Hutchinson).

I used to love watching those 97 and 98 Static teams but only Shep appears to be maintaining that level of play. If I had to pick just one; I would be @ Doom tryouts.

There a number of good teams at 16/18 in the Cincinnati and Dayton area that play showcases. I think all of the organizations were listed above. The problem in Cincinnati is that no program has stepped up to this point to be the must go to organization in the area. Toledo has the Wizards. Towards the northwest you have Lasers and Outlaws. In Columbus you have Stingrays and Classics. I think in general all of those programs field very competitive teams at each age. In Cincinnati it is certainly more scattered. There are good teams in the Doom, Hawks, OFC Heat, Slammers, Static, and Thunder. There are also teams in each of these organizations that do not compete at the highest level on a regular basis if at all. Definitely do your homework. If you are looking to go to tryouts, you can attend the open ones, but I would suggest setting up private tryouts especially if you can be involved in actual team practice.

I agree with Fly. Our Doom team this summer is playing/has played Dayton Metro, States, Scenic City, Outlaws, Midwest Firecracker, Stingrays, Sparks. Gregory's Doom teams always play a tough schedule. Hawks Lenos, Hutchinson, Wagner, OFC Heat Urton play tough schedules. Thunder 00 played a very good schedule this summer. There's other teams in the mentioned orgs that don't. I recommend by the time you get to 14u, 16u that you asked what you've played & not what you intend to play. A lot of coaches tell you what you want to hear around tryouts. Just look at their history

thanks and right back at ya on Doom organization! One of the best there is!
There are lots of great travel teams and organizations. The ones mentioned are always in lime light. Also your kid is going to get noticed if she plays on them or plays against them! Because college coaches go to these travel teams games!

All great organizations for sure, But Lets not forget about the Valley Storm Premier.

60-6-1 as of now.

Final 4 at Dayton Metro, Top 10 at Lasers, 1st at SW Ohio fall brawl, 2nd in 16U division Indiana stars and stripes, as well as many more. Played up to 16U and 18U many times this year against solid competition, won all. This group can play ball with anyone and have a great college following. Will be filling some spots as we we move up to 16U for next season.

Non-parent coach. Great schedule for fall, winter, and next summer. More details on our website.
