DD pitched at Kent on Jan 5, now she is getting emails and letters from coaches. Questions:
1. Are letters specifically addressed Dear ------ actually interested in her? Or are they just taking the time to make it look personal.
2. Are letters without a player's name just general fishing to promote attendance at the school's winter skills camp?
In her weeding-out process, DD's first on-line look at the school is to determine if they have her major. Since she is interested in DII and DIII schools for campus size and her skill level, very few of them have her major.
3. Any tips on on her next steps as they apply to contacting the coaches and arranging visits?
I had two girls there, older a junior who was also in QoD. Younger a freshman. The letters to the freshman, after, were all generic. Just come to my camp stuff, with her name on them. But the "personal" ones to my older daughter were easy to pick out. They cited specific plays, at bats, etc....they actually PROVED that they had seen her. We did get a couple hand written notes.
And in answer to a topic from a long time ago on Kent State/QoD: my daughter is interested in DIII. And a few schools we had not contacted beforehand made contact with her after. So it is possible to go to one of those events and "get noticed." She also has some things worth looking for (GRADES, speed, lefty...)
