Mike isn't coaching a 12U team, he is the president of the organization! I know you played with him last year, but I'm pretty arrogant when I say he would never show favortism toward anyone and as a TD, I'm sure he had plenty to do with all the age divisions playing this weekend, than to sit down and try to figure out how to take advantage of the ICE team! I'm sure he woke up on Friday and said I need to make sure the ICE has the worst weekend ever. I feel you need to apologize for your comments or delete them, I seen you this past summer near the field and it was not a lot that I would of desired to be near a ball field. Your kids are playing ball, not you and it's time you remember that before you go imbarass another organization that has a good reputation like the ICE!!!

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITHE THE ICE, Bacons >>>>> team was up there and does have to do with comments brought out by the umpires regarding M... R........ and our team. I would like to think umpires would have some integrety but that was proven to be different.

Yes I do understand that there is always weather and it is hard to get something like this off this time of year. But I dont understand why he would send out a posting that everything will be on time at 730 Saturday morning, then cancel the games all togerther on Saturday. The people trying to work the fields(parents and coaches of the teams playing) worked their butts off and it was appriciated, but sometimes you just have to give in to the wether, and not play in a mud hole. The only thing that could be said was at least there was indoor plumbing, and heat is the rest rooms. So feel this forum is for stating ideas and opinions and in my opinion this weekend was a wasted weekend, but thanks for adding you 2 cents in as well.

Congrats to the teams that did win, good job in playing and dealing with the wether. And thanks to all the other coaches and parents that fought the loosing battle of making the fields barely playable.

I have no dog in this fight. However, it seems ridiculous to me that nobody really knows who won anything in this tournament since the TD has not updated this post OR the allprosoftware website they used(which is a great tool when used properly). Makes me kinda glad we weren't there.

Mike,

Can you please post the results somewhere. By reading the posts, it seems like the Gold won the 16U, but it says in another post that they would have had to beat the Kaos 2x's, and I only see one game between those two. But then it also says the Heat McGhee team got the 16U ASA Eastern birth. Help!

This is a good question. DD's team was the loser's bracket champion, won handily in first championship game in 7 innings, then started the second championship game in near darkness. After some interesting circumstances/tie breakers were discussed, the two teams were named "co-champs". Not sure why 12U would have been required to play both championship games if 16U was not. Bizarre end to a challenging weekend, but as stated above, have to to your best with the situation at hand.

Mike, will both 12U co-champs get a national bid? Is ASA Eastern National for 12U in York, PA? Thanks.

Be glad you werent there! Poor/little communication, unorganized, fields didn't get worked until the last minute. Why does TD need to update the post since he has already made his money from everyone. Allprosoftware wasnt even updated to the correct times for the brackets since Saturday. Thanks for a wasted weekend...errr I mean afternoon.

I can only speak for 16U,

Buckeye Heat McGhee and Ohio Kaos earned the 2 births to the ASA Eastern.

The Laser Gold is not a 16U team and I believe did not turn in a roster, making them unable to earn a birth.
My guess would be they were just playing up for the competition and proved to be a very solid team.

Best of luck to them and the Kaos this summer

Lasers Gold beat the Marion Merchants Red 16u not Marion Merchants Black. Marion Merchants Black are 14u. Congrats to all teams that (weathered) the weekend.

Sunday's games were very well played in the 14u division our results
first game lost to a very good SGS Magic 4-0, then played The Heart of Ohio Pulse team to a 1-1 tie and won on tie breaker with the most runners to 3rd base. This game was very intense and well played by both teams, looking forward to playing the Pulse late on sundays next season. we then played a young Buckeye Heat team and won 12-0, then played SGS Magic in another exciting game, score was 0-0 late with time running out, we had 2 outs and were ahead with the tie breaker system then magic had a base hit. next girl(Kimmy) hits a bomb to right center, then another hit and game over we lose 3-0Congrats to SGS Magic very solid team and well coached. We bowed out in 3rd place, don't know who won the championship game.Very good competition at 14u, next season should be very exciting

The STING 12U & Marion Diamonds 12U earned the 2 births for ASA Eastern Nationals.

The sting 12u went into the championship game undefeated playing the Marion Diamonds
that had one lose they needed to beat us twice to win. the first game started at 4:30 played 7 innings. Marion Diamonds won 9-4 the second game started around 6:00 we got to about the 3rd inning Sting was up 5-1. got to dark to finish we was told we could wait till the games being played under the lights were over to finish maybe around 10:00 or so. The coach from the diamonds and I did what was best for our parents and players and agreed to be co-champions. The girls fought hard all day from both teams and deserved to finish where they did. ( We can't argue with mother nature)

I want to thank everyone involved in getting things together so we could play ball.

Why would the first game not have been played by the drop dead rule???? Then the Championship game have been the full 7 inings?

Congrats Diamonds and Sting, Look forward to seeing you guys alot this summer.

Dad of Daughters, the 12U and 10U Eastern Nationals are in York, PA. I believe it is the first week in August.

I was told by TD the championship game would be 7 inings, The drop dead rule was not in affect for the first game and we had not lost yet So they had to beat us twice to win out right.

To the above replies,

As the RVBFY President and this past weekend's TD, I want to thank our board members and others who helped all weekend. Without all of the help, those 45 games wouldn't of happened yesterday. For those of you who have had to deal with a bad weather situation and deciding whether or not to go ahead with things, it's a very difficult decision. I know that you will never please everyone all of the time. I knew some parents didn't like the
shortened game times and I'm sorry. Coaches you understood and I
appreciate that. It was either the girls get to play, or they didn't. With all the fields that had to be played on, we didn't have the crew plus
equipment for each field, for them all to be ready at the same time. We
worked by spotlight and car lights till 2 am Sun. morning spreading more
field dry material in order to make the games happen.
As for keeping the website updated yesterday, that would have been
impossible to do. We fit in a double elim. tournament into 1 day. Many
of you don't know the work involved in that. As many changes that
had to happen, the bracket had to constantly be written over and changed.
Those of us who are back to work on Mon. can't get things updated
when they/others think they should be. I had planned on posting the
finishers and updating the website tonight after work.
I had no connection to any player or team that participated over
the weekend. For a member to say that a game was set or decided
upon beforehand is a false and misleading statement. I will and do
always represent RVBFY the best I can and make the complex
something the community can be proud of.
Thanks again to all of you for your patience and understanding to get those games played yesterday and
for the previous positive comments. Coaches, I heard quite a bit about the talent
here yesterday. Thank you for bringing your players and participating.

I tried emailing to find this out, but have not received a reply. When should the 1st and 2nd place teams expect to receive their gift cards from softballsales.com? I find it a bit odd that they were not passed out with the trophies and I have yet to hear from the td about it. Am I the only one having this issue?

These gift cards were changed to be from a sporting goods company
in Westerville. This is due to them providing the tournament apparel and
softballs, etc. for the tournament. He has not come through as promised.
I and the rest of the RVBFY Board decided I would mail checks to the
winning coaches instead of the gift cards because we weren't waiting
any longer. I have the checks now and should have them mailed
out by this evening.
