Fly ball hit to the warning track in right field, outfielder was under the ball. Hits her glove bounces out as she attempts to grab it with her bare hand she knocks the ball over the fence. What is the official way to score this, E9 or home run?

E9 resulting in A score. Was it Jose Conseco this happened to one year?

Great question. Can't wait to find out. Is out-of-play in this battle? Ball was touched in fair territory and went out-of-play. Hmmm.

If under the ball, yes, an E9 and an unearned run. The one with Canseco you remember bounced off of his head ...

General rule on losing one in sun or wind ... if it doesn't touch the glove, its a hit ... if it does, its an error ...

Details, details, detals! :D

Was it a catch that the scorekeeper judged should have been made with ordinary effort? Then it is an error, using the same criteria as any other catch anywhere else on the field.

Assuming that the fielder first touched the ball in fair territory (otherwise, this is just a foul ball)...

Did the ball go over the fence in foul territory? In that case it would be a two-base award and error.

Did the ball go over the fence in fair territory? That would be a four-base award and error.

So if a catch should be made with ordinary effort but isn't it is ruled an error? For example pop fly to outfield ss calls center calls her off but misjudged the ball and it lands between them with no one touching it before it hits the ground. This should be scored an error correct?

Details matter again here too in my opinion. If the SS has to go out and the OF has to come in, I pay close attention to the OF first. IF she could get there with ordinary effort AND the SS gets out of the way but OF doesn't make the catch, it goes as an error in my book. However, this would rarely be an error against SS on a softball diamond (much smaller than a baseball diamond) since if there is enough time for the SS to back up far enough, there should be enough time for the OF to get there and call her off.

The actual rules are:

ATEC - Defense: Errors
n - No error is charged on a misplay if the ball is lost in the sun or lights, windblown, or if the fielder slips and falls, even if contact with the ball is made.

NCAA - No error is charged to a fielder in the following situations:
14.22.1 When a ball is misplayed because of being lost in the sun or lights, blown by the wind, or if the fielder slips and falls ? even if contact is made with the ball.

These only apply if the fielder didn't recover in time to make the play with ordinary effort. If they recovered in time, the misplay wasn't caused by the sun, lights, etc.

As described, it is not an error.

ATEC - Defense: Errors
p - No error is charged if a fly ball is misjudged and the fielder can't recover in time to field it in good position
.

NCAA - No error is charged to a fielder in the following situations:
14.22.7 When a fly ball is misjudged and the fielder cannot recover in time to make the play.

should have been caught and it was in fair territory when touched and when it went over the fence
