Scrimmage scores? Really?
Aren't coaches just trying stuff and working players different places? Seeing what a batting order might look like. Even trying situational stuff.
Maybe I'm just naive but I don't think the score at a scrimmage matters.

MCS, you are correct... Our coach is moving all the ladies around in the games and one of our scrimmages, the last three innings before sunset, each team had the girls hitting out of their own hands to do situational type stuff with Lakewood and was that funny to see.... ever hear an umpire say strike 5?? :)

MCS, I see your point. We had some situational experiments also, and so did the other team. It was just nice to see our team work as a team. There wasn't a lot of that going on last year. This was a good thing and the parents and players and coaches are very excited. We're hoping it continues into regular season.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not even sure we used a scorebook! A few innings of straight up play and then a lot of experimentation. Whatever works best for you I guess.

Good luck to all this season.

I don't think posting scores is technically necessary, I don't think it hurts either, so long as you're respectful if you happen to drub someone. I think the scrimmage period is for moving people around, trying offensive and defensive schemes, and in general sizing up your own team. I think a few straight up innings is fine, but I also like to have a few innings started with a baserunner on 1st or 2nd with no outs.

I agree with you, but some folks have to get their braggin in early they tend to go poopoo, about half way thru the season

Is there any coaching decision more useless than running a pitcher out for a complete game no-hitter during a "scrimmage"?:p:rolleyes:
