This site lets you see for yourself for anywhere around yours or any address and what type of offense it was and if a child was harmed.

Enter your address...it will show your house on a map... all the
little colored boxes are Sex Offenders near you... click on them and you get a name, address and picture of the person along with his crime... pretty amazing and scary. It shows you where they live in proximity to your home and the local schools.

I work w/in the Sheriff's department and if I knew that there was any spouse of the teams coach, I would say something. ?they may be in DIRECT VIOLATION of the conditions of thier registration or thier probation and they could ultimately be throw back in prison!! ?When it comes to kids this is not something you mess w/!! ?My question would be what kind of sexual offender is she? ?If it has nothing to do w/kids, then maybe you could forget it, but if it deals w/children, theres a big problem there!!!! ?If you need more info, send me a message or call your local Sheriff's office for more answers!!!!

Wow - I can't believe there is even a question here. ?
Yes - it definately needs addressed. ?
Yes - you need to find out more facts. ?
Yes - it should be addressed discreetly with the head of the organization. ?
Maybe she will never be at any games or practice, BUT everyone on the team should be made aware of it. ?I for one would want to know so my dd is not left or dropped off with her around. ?I understand that this could hurt the coach and dd, but by becoming a coach he has opened himself up for this - he knows the skeletons in his closet. Although, I would think addressing and being open with this situation would be better than rumors and accusations could be. ?Honesty and openness usually will work out the best in any situation. ?

I will need to ask my parents if they have been getting looks and some weird mail.

written: I would want to know, but I would want the facts and not just hearsay & speculation. Know the facts and then share them. If the parents are informed, they can make the decision they feel appropriate. It is very important not to insert your feelings into the facts, don't embellish. JMHO

Fact: women was foundy GUILTY of a CRIME that REQUIRED her to REGISTER AS A SEXUAL PREDATORE.

DO YOU REALLY NEED MORE INFORMATION? THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED TO YOU AT TRYOUTS! YOUR CHILDREN ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND IF YOU TAKE A BACK SEAT TO THIS KNOWLEDGE BECAUSE YOU ARE AFRAID OF HURTING SOMEONE WITH FACTS, I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU ARE DOING YOUR JOB AS A PARENT. IF THIS IS ANYONE ON MY TEAM, I WANT TO KNOW!!!

Just to keep the facts straight:

If you knew for a fact that the wife of the head coach of a travel softball team was registered as a sexually oriented offender....

CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENDERS
A SEXUAL PREDATOR is defined as a person who has been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, committing a sexually oriented offense and who is likely in the future to commit additional sexually oriented offenses. Offenders can be classified as sexual predators in one of the following ways:

1. The Offender is convicted of a sexually violent offense with a sexually violent predator specification, (or)
2. The sentencing court, after holding a sexual predator hearing pursuant to O.R.C. 2950.09, determines that the offender is a sexual predator.

Offenders designated as sexual predators are subject to registration/verification requirements for life unless a judge modifies or terminates the sexual predator designation. Sexual predators are subject to the neighbor/community notification provisions and the reporting requirements at 90-day intervals.

A HABITUAL SEX OFFENDER is defined as a person who has been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, committing a sexually oriented offense, and who previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one or more sexually oriented offenses. Offenders designated as habitual sex offenders are subject to registration/verification requirements annually for a period of 20 years after release. A sentencing judge may determine that a habitual sex offender is subject to neighbor/community notification.

A SEXUALLY ORIENTED OFFENDER is a person who has been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, committing a sexually oriented offense, but who has not been designated as a sexual predator or habitual sex offender. Sexually oriented offenders are subject to the registration/verification requirements annually for a period of 10 years after release. I would be furious as a parent if I felt this information was being kept hush hush. That in itself would be wrong. I would definatley pull my dd from team if the offender was apart of the teams daily activities, and I wasnt notified upfront of the circumstances!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for one I dont think that anyone has said if this person is involved or not . What I have learned in life is not to judge anyone until I know all facts. And yes , the system ( of law ) is not always right. Its easy for some to say ruin someones life as well as a coach and his daughter and any other family member that attends. I myself would not judge this person. The coach is the coach , not the wife. It is up to me to take care of my child. I dont know if lakecountycaptian is really trying to find an answer . I just hope you dont ruin a father , coach , husbands and his daughter life over this . I am sure they have already been through enough . Please consider that. You never know , some people might already know and accept it after knowing the whole story.

I received a private message with the title, "Just drop it". Here it is, posted intact.

********* said:
I really dont who you are talking about but if I hear of you hurting any Daughter as well as the coach of a team . I got some dirt on you Harley that I will tell everyone here in Perry as well as Stark county. You can count on it.

What is that about? By the way, I read all the posts and did more checking. The coaches' wife (they do have a daughter on the team) is definately listed with the state as a sexual oriented offender and it involved a male child. I have decided to contact the head person in charge of the teams' organization and just let him know what I know. They can pursue it from there, if they choose. My guess is they will act on this info, as they are a very well respected organization in NE Ohio.

Edit: User Id Removed - Next time just forward the message to one of the moderators - TheBearMay

I do not usually post in the forums, but this issue in my opinion should have automatically been discussed with the head of the organization no questions asked. In my humble opinion it is every parents right and duty to protect their children by whatever means may be necessary. I would expect the groups leader to investigate the matter and act according to his or her leagal advice. Liability is of major concern but more importantly with all the predators of the world, at least my wife and I will keep a watchful eye on our daughters and anyone else's daughter who may play for us.

Just this coaches opinion!

YEAH, I wonder if she thought of the life she ruined when she was commiting the crime? ? ?[smiley=angry.gif]

These are crimes of oppurtunity!! And i would not give her another one with my child or anybody elses. These people reoffend because they are given the oppurtunity to reoffend, by family members who want to believe that they didnt do it or by people that are uninformed. Yes she might just be the wife of the coach, but every coach we have been around the wife has been there also, and as an uninformed parent you may make decisions you might not otherwise make. example, maybe letting your daughter go to her hotel room when your on the road, maybe letting her give your daughter a ride home from practice, letting her spend the night with their daughter.

About her daughter finding out that way,it is too bad but maybe she should have sat the daughter down and told her, so that she wouldnt hear it any other way. The other thing is, it is public record so her daughter could ?find out herself if she looks at the sheriffs page. I think one of the first things my daughter did in computer class was ?the teacher told them to bring that page up. so my concern is not for her family, it is for mine and anyone else whos child could be in harms way.

ifubuildit, Think about it, would you want that to happen to another child?

again.

There is no mention of a DD on the team. ?I know that this type of thread has a tendency to take a life of it's own. especially when it is an emotional one.. ?Let us consider this

How many times have you heard that 'it is a fact" and found out it wasn't?

Enough times that you would want to make sure? I sure hope so.

How many times have you received email that said you were a millionaire?

I do not want to cast doubt on the original poster, but before you set fire to the stakes... you better well hope you have the facts or you will end up messing up a lot of people lives.

without those facts... I will be very cautious to act.. ?If this upsets some.. so be it. ?I want to be right instead of sorry.

It amazes me how many people are more worried about the Coach and his wife then the actual kids. ? We have had the unfortunate situation where our dd was a victim of a sexually oriented crime at the age of 11. ?The person convicted was a coach and umpire (not to mention a family member by marriage). ?If you ever had to watch your DD testify in court or go through a trial, you would never want any one else's child to have to do the same. ?The most horrible part was how many people would rather believe my DD was lying then think this person would do such a thing. ?Fortunatley our system works and he is in jail for 12 years (there were other victims). But because of the date that the actual crimes occured was before certain legislation had passed he was labeled an Offender/not a Predator. I think absolutely all parents on the team should know. ?The hard lesson we have learned is that you never trust anyone. It amazes me how many parents will send their dd's w/o a parent to tournaments at hotels w/ coaches and other parents they have only known a few months. ?The team my dd played on the past 2 years had a non parent coach who often had players hanging out in his hotel room. ?NOT saying anything happened....it just amazes me how much parents trust coaches and ?don't think it will happen to their child.
The Kids Have to come first.

Believe me, I would want to know. But I would want to know the truth and the facts not the hear say. I also can't believe how some parents let their kids go off and no know anything. I have a hard time letting my kids walk around local football games, or baseball games with friends. I make them check in every 5 or 10 minutes. Over protective? Maybe, but I know where they are and who their friends are. Better safe than sorry!

bobb2125,

My heart goes out to your DD and family.?I am guessing she is a little older now, how is she getting along? Good i hope. Good luck with the recovery, and keep telling your your story to anyone that will listen. People have no idea how these offenders work.

THINK ABOUT IT! would you keep setting beer out infront of an acoholic if you knew he was an alcoholic or a recovering alcoholic?

bobb2125.... thoughts and prayers to you and your DD. I am glad the system worked for you, a lot of times it works the other way. Hang in there.

I thought this topic might have been locked, but gald to see it is not. The last three post should put the last nail in the coffin so to speak. Someone's DD was affected by this and it was a coach/umpire who is around kids all the time and the parents that let kids go to weekend tournaments wiith a coach they dont know that well. Parents let kids run aournd town or at sporting events without checking in..... sad627 has kids check in.... nothing wrong with that. tribefan24 made an excellent point about setting alchohol out in front of an alcoholic. Most of the sexual preditors/offenders do not recover and you see it day after day that they strike again.

Dealing with preditors/offenders on a daily bases, I can show you how easy they pick out kids while on line or out in public. It is shocking how they work.

Bottom line... These our your kids, my kids and our future. Dont destroy their future, keep a tab on your kids, know where they are and have them check in from time to time. It is sad to have to live this way but time have changed from when I was a kid and could run around the neighborhood with no worries.

Did not mean to write a book

Without trying to violate any confidence... I am going to elaborate on this using information that I have received. Is my information "a fact". I do not know that any more than I know that the original poster information is a fact.

1. She was arrested
2. She accepted a plea to avoid further trauma to her family.
3. 6 months later, the "victim" admitted to lying.

The coach wanted to resign but the parents on the team asked him not to.

Now if the above is true does that change your opinion?

To be honest, I am very neutral in this matter. I have been around for a long time and I have seen more miscarriage of justice in my time that would rattle your confidence in the legal system. Is this such a case... I really do not know but I do know that mob mentality has a way of morphing into an ugly animal.

I have 4 daughters and 5 grandkids and I love them more than I can describe. I will walk to the end of the Earth to protect them but I will NOT destroy any other lives along the way without irrefutable evidence. What kind of lessons am I passing on to my grandchildren that mob mentality is acceptable?

I want my grandchildren to know the value of not leaping to conclusions and the dangers of "assumptions". In our own history there have been people burned at stake (the Salem Witch trials) based on "facts". There have been people that have been executed in recent times and it was found later that they were innocent. DNA evidence has released so many people from prison that were innocent of the crimes that they were accused. Recanted testimony has freed people that have spent many years behind bars and their lives were lost. Is this such a case... I really do not know but I have recieved enough infomation from both viewpoints that I refuse to jump to conclusions.

One poster commented that he/she was surprised that this topic has not been locked. Well, it is a topic that merits discussion.

Sorry for the diatribe.

See I would hope that this would change everyone's mind! As I posted previously before getting all fired up gets the facts of the exact situation! IF this is the scenario all of you who flipped out immediately should be ashamed of yourselves! How would you feel if this was you and everyone was out to ruin your life and your family again-over a lie!
