Every year, after tryout season is over we see post on shortage of players!

What age groups are we seeing a Shortage of players after the 2014 Tryout Season?

Is it a shortage of players or too many teams?

Possibly goes along with your Daddy Ball post.

There are significantly less teams looking this year than there were last year. Look at the tryout page. There's one team on there right now.

I disagree there are to many teams. Why has softball grown the way it has? More opportunities for girls to play travel ball. I don't see how this is a negative thing. With the growth of JO volleyball, AAU basketball, S o c c e r and lacrosse we need to be trying to get more girls involved not limiting them.

it's way down for sure, the volume of players. I'd be curious to see what ASA or USSSA total registration number trends are since 2008.

I would like to see numbers as well, even from last year, I think numbers are way down.

I think it's a surplus of teams, in our area 10 years ago there were 3 12u travel teams, now there are about 15 ish, and some are looking for players.
