You should be able to do it yourself. Save the money for camps. They will be more beneficial.

I would wait until the summer or fall of next year. It is nice to get outside on a real field. However, it is junior year for us, so we need to get it done.

We have done them in the past at our HS, we shoot the video and the audio visual teacher
edits and burns the disk for us

Many computers have software that will do this. If anyone has a MAC Book they have I DVD and I Movie that works great.
It seems that pitchers get a lot of requests for videos. Our other players have had some but not a lot of requests(4 jrs have verballed).

I think that most of the colleges these days prefer a link to a video storage website, ie-youtube and many others out there.

The feedback we have received from coaches, they seem to like the opportunity to look at numerous videos at a single location than to sort through stacks of burned discs. We have made numerous videos and uploaded them onto youtube and send the links to coaches. The feedback we have received has been only positive.

The other good thing about youtube is they have something called "insight". It lets you know geographically where people are looking at your videos from. Lets say you send an email to a coach in oklahoma, you can track how many views of that video are coming from oklahoma. Gives you kind of an idea if there was any interest from that area. Also lets you know from the insight area, how the people that are viewing the videos, got to the video. Either from an email link, a search of you dd's name, or a redirect from a recruiting website if you use one. All in all a very efficient way of tracking your dd's college choices interest.

I need to get Cammis video view up so here are som links to her short game video

And heres her at bat videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nx1M0-5PB1s

The last good thing is you get a running total of views of your dd's videos. If it has a low number of hits, might be a good idea to maybe modify it till you start getting some good interest.

Do you guys do this on your own? If so, how do you edit it? If not, who did you go through to get these done? The videos are of great quality.

Do not wait!! If you can get some good stuff done inside then do it. Send it off as a teaser to get the coaches interested. Now if the video is bad or you can't show her skills in a positive light than iIguess I would wait, but I don't see any reason you can't get some really good stuff to send out right now. If you wait you may miss out.

Borrow a video camera, use a Kodak CD burner from Target about 180 bucks that you can burn cd's from your old tapes, so not just a one time use thing. You can pause burning process as you put the piece of clips you want to use. Microsoft Movie in any late model PC has it and the Mac process mentioned above works as well. Takes a bit to get used to, but you can do it yourself....

On another thread, people said that Berecruited.com was very popular with the coaches. Anyone out there have info that can confirm this site's popularity with softball coaches?

Thanks.

CGS Yes! The first free part is ok, but for the 30 dollars you can see who looked, with direct links to their school pages, they can email you right from that and you can load videos right to it and again see how many looked at it. Had many contacts from all divisions all the way to TX from it.

When DD did hers, she did all of the editing and burning on her own computer. I couldn't tell you how or what was done, but the kids seem to have a better handle on this than I did. As Hilliarddad mentioned, I think it was Microsoft Movie maker or some other movie making software that came with the computer. It turned out really nice.

There are a couple of older threads on OFC somewhere that talk about what to put in the video and what not to put in the video. But it is somewhat easy if you have your own video camera and if you have your DD do the editing, it can be a great experience for her too.
