Hello all, I realize it's been a long time since I have posted anything on here. I've been a bit busy with a move and family. Let me explain what has happened and where I am.
I have enjoyed 24 years of building great relationships with a vast number of coaches, players, and their fans in the softball world. While many of you know that I moved to Cincinnati for softball (as an umpire) the youth program ?hooked? me and as they say ? the rest is history with the development of leagues, tournaments, camps and clinics over the years.
My parents own a vacation resort in south central Kentucky on Dale Hollow Lake called Hendricks Creek Resort. ( www.hendrickscreekresort.com ) We have owned Hendricks Creek since the mid 1950?s. Last Christmas my father asked me to come home to help run the family business with my brother. I have thought long and hard (over a year) about what to do. I have given up much family time over the years for the softball world and have made the decision be a part of the third generation of our family business.
While softball will not be a huge part of my life here in Burkesville, Kentucky immediately ? Slugger Fest will continue to operate. (This gives me a chance to come back to see all my friends!) Who knows ? the 40 acres of ?flat land? Dad enticed me with to come home may end up one day being a softball complex!
My parents both have health issues. Because I have given 24 years of my life to running softball and both the season for the resort and softball are the same - I was not around my family very often. For this reason, and before something happens to either of them, I chose to move south.
Giving up the sport I was passionate about was very hard and I hope that you will all understand the reason for my move.
Now for Slugger Fest - 2010 and beyond.
Slugger Fest will be run for the 19th year in 2010. I will be back for the tournament - after all a girl can't go completely cold turkey!
Slugger Fest will be held at Rivershore as it has the past several years. We listened to teams last year that wanted more age divisions on the same weekend so they could travel together with their programs. We are offering that this year.
We do have more teams registered than what is shown on the web site - I will update shortly.
If you would like to contact me - please send me an email at pamrein@duo-county.com
