At our school all atheletes sign a contract at begining of school staying they will not drink,do drugs or use tobacco. First offense breaking contract is loss of 40% of the season that you are in and gets worse after that. A pic with the student and a drink( doesn't even have to be be holding or drinking ) is enough to break contract. Lost one of our basketball players last year because of a picture on facebook, that and her own stupidity for being in the situation.

So what you're saying is, if my daughter is sitting at a table at, let's say a wedding. Sitting on either side of my daughter are adults of legal drinking age, and they happen to set their adult beverage down in a position that may make it appear, to the outside observer, the adult beverage is my daughter's. She is then photographed and that phot is put on facebook. You're saying my daughter would be kicked off of your high school's athletic team?

I would hope that the parents of the student athlete would be contacted before the school. That is probably a terrible assumption becasue that kid might be playing in front of my kid. Instant starter WAHOO !!!!

Society cracks me up !!! Don't get me wrong kids post more stupid and revealing stuff on Twitter and Facebook than I would have ever believed.

If parent is there then she would be ok. Our athletes are expected to leave anywhere that alcohol is being consumed if they are not accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.

Geez parents, why would you pose with your daughter with drinks? Can't you go a few weeks without drinking? If you know it is unacceptable by rules or simply social acceptance, why would you put yourself out there to even start this fight? Pose for a picture in an area without drinks and stop rocking the boat and take chances that will come back to bite your daughter on the bottom. She's the one that's going to suffer.

Tongues have hung more people than ropes ever have.

Are school has the same thing. Wonder if this is just 2 schools doing the samething or is this policy for all Ohio schools.

I know that most if not all the schools in our league have some sort of contract with their athletes. Each school has their own, with about the same guidelines and penalties. We also have random drug testing in our school for athletes during their season. I believe its 20% of each team each season is tested and all is paid for by the school.

Our school has a similar policy. I am pretty sure that the powers that be can tell if the student is at a teen party or a family function. IMHO
The school considers it a privledge to play a sport and represent their school in that sport. If there is controversy surrounding that student, that goes against the contract, they can be removed from the sports program.
