Does Softball needs a Caitlin Clark?

Why is Caitlin Clark having such a positive affect on women basketball?

Caitlin Clark's impact on women's basketball stems from her exceptional skills, dynamic playing style, and charismatic presence on the court. Her ability to score, facilitate, and lead has captured the attention of fans and brought renewed excitement to the sport. Additionally, her success as a young athlete inspires others and showcases the talent and potential within women's basketball.

When will Girl Fastpitch Softball have its Caitlin Clark? Most likely never!

Oh I don't know, I kind of felt like Oklahoma's entire team captured that last year. I especially liked the interview when it was all over and one by one they all praised Jesus.

I just wished Jordy Bahl hadn't been constantly getting away with illegal pitches....

Carrying on the thought of @Mad Hornet, Jocelyn Alo seems to fulfill that role in my mind. She has the NCAA HR record, signed with the Oklahoma Sparks to play professionally and recently signed a short contract with the Savannah Bananas baseball team. If anyone could be considered an ambassador of softball, at least today in my mind, it would be her.

It's all in the promotion. Softball has been historically peppered with greats that still are in the game at some capacity. Jessica Mendosa, Jennie Finch, Lisa Fernandez come to mind. I think Cat Osterman tried very hard in her own way to get the game in the front of everyone's minds. All these and many more carry star quality.

Women just don't seem to be interested in promoting other women. Guys will support other men, women will support pro men's sport figures, but chauvinists refuse to accept women's sports as serious. I don't understand it.

I feel softball has been given ample opportunity to really get a pro league up and running but women won't support it. Moms will take their kids to watch but they really don't seem to be enthusiastic to be there themselves. Almost like they're doing everyone a favor but they don't react like a fan when there. How can women sit thru a 2+ hour baseball game cheering but not enjoy a rapid paced game of Fastpitch?

I think more men would support it but are afraid they will be frowned upon by others or be punished by their own females in their lives if they show interest. Insecurities? Maybe....

Maybe we need to hire Dr. Phil to figure this out........

100% agree, pro Fastpitch has had so many chances to get a foot hold with the fans. But in ever case they’ve came up way short.

I agree Girls/Women in General don’t support Fastpitch softball past high school or travel ball.

When it come to what sports I watch myself on TV or attend games.

College Football
College Girls Volleyball
College Girls Basketball
WNBA
Reds Baseball
Cleveland Browns
Cincinnati Bengals
College Girls and Pro Gymnastics
Girls Track n’ Field College/Pro
And finally Women College Softball once the bracket start for the World Series. That the only time I watch girls Fastpitch softball.

It really takes the right promotion and financial backing. A TV contract would be necessary. It's really perfect for that 2 hour time slot. You would need to find the right cities that would get behind their teams and support them at the gate. Proper softball only stadiums with good amenities are also needed. A new pro volleyball league started up this year and I believe Joe Burrow even owns part of the Columbus team. Not sure how they are doing.

One of the problems with softball only stadiums, is what are you going to do with it during the off season.
There just not financially a good idea

I personally don’t believe pro softball will ever fly and it will never gain a footing or the size of audience to support it.
