[Softball] Smith Named Champion of Character, Six Lions Earn All-Academic Honors

DAYTON, Tenn. – On Tuesday night, the Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2019 softball awards, and Bryan College's Heidi Smith (JR/Cookeville, Tenn.) was the lone representative for the Lions on the Champions of Character team while she joined fellow teammates Lindsey Dunn (JR/Tennga, Ga.), Brooke Ford (SR/Naples, Fla.), Olivia Johnson (SO/Ten Mile, Tenn.), Kimberly McKernie (SO/Marietta, Ga.), and Madison Owens (JR/Dandridge, Tenn.) on the All-Academic Team. The student-athletes selected to the Champions of Character Team are those who best represent the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Program: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. To make the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher.
