Marymount California split a four-game set at Simpson, moving the Mariners into a tie at the top of the California Pacific Conference standings with Embry-Riddle, and then they swept four games against Antelope Valley to improve to 10-2 in conference and 24-12 overall. Embry-Riddle, meanwhile, took four in a row against in-state rival Benedictine-Mesa to keep pace with MCU at 10-2 in the Cal Pac and evening its overall mark at 16-16. Fittingly, the two teams are scheduled to square off this weekend in Prescott, Ariz., a series that will play a pivotal role in determining the regular-season champion.
