The Bees pounded out 22 hits and scored in seven of their eight innings in sweeping a doubleheader from Mount Mary by scores of 8-0 and 9-1 Friday afternoon in the Ambrose Dome. Each game lasted just five innings.

Ten of the 22 hits came in the opener. Olivia McClintock, Madelyn Thompson and Libby Munsterman each had two hits in the 8-0 win.

St. Ambrose took advantage of three errors to plate six runs in the opening inning. Thompson had an RBI single before Munsterman laced a two-run triple to right. Grace Schmitz, Jazzy Bowman and McClintock also knocked in runs in the bottom of the first.

Schmitz added to the lead an inning later with a single to plate Munsterman, who reached on a two-out double.

Erica Ralfs led off the third with a base hit and pinch runner Tara Lance came around to score on Kayla Stenger's RBI double to end the scoring.

Ella Specht allowed just three hits over four scoreless innings to get the win. She struck out five. Jane Thomas retired the side in order in the fifth in her one inning of work.

Ralfs followed that with a gem of her own, allowing two hits and a single run while striking out six over four innings in the second game.

After Ralfs surrendered a run in the top of the first, the Bees exploded for another big inning in the bottom of the frame. Colleen Barrett, Munsterman and Stenger had RBIs before Olivia Haas knocked in a pair with a double to give SAU a 5-1 lead.

The Bees would add at least a single run in each of the next three innings.

Barrett lined a sacrifice fly to center to up the lead to 6-1 in the second. Isabella Prado scored on an error and Haas came around to score on a Lance bunt single in the third. And Bowman added a run-scoring single in the fourth.

McClintock finished 3-for-3 while Bowman and Haas each had two hits in Game 2.

The Bees, now 3-3 overall, will host their second Winter Dome Tournament in the Ambrose Dome Saturday and Sunday. Games are played at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day.
