Stingray Tournament Question - Recruiting?

We are attending the StingRay event for the first time this weekend at 14U.

Has anyone that has attended in the past know if there will be colleges there that expect you to bring team rosters to distribute? We know at other showcases it is expected that you will have rosters and they are placed in designated areas for each game - But that is normally 16U.

Our parents are just wondering if they are needed this week since it is 14u. Any input is appreciated.

There are usually 70 or so college attending each year. The more exposure you can get for your ladies whether be playing or literature can never hurt. even at 14's someone may catch somebody's eye. Bring em and hang em on the dugout fence...

Never to early to start. Getting on college lists is a marketing thing. Promote, promote and then promote. I send out over 200 e-mails weekly to College coaches for my players and families. General info it is the players and families responsibility to send e-mails and calls to Colleges that have shown interest. Recruiting is almost as competitive as travel softball. You go around an watch younger players so you can recruit them to play for you in the next season. We dont have money, but College coaches do!!!!!!!!!!

Best of luck.

Strongly recommended. College coaches are looking ever deeper into age brackets for developing talent. Even though the very top 14u kids are already known by the college coaches, this is the age where they are "discovered".

IMO, individual profile sheets are more useful than a roster, but I'd provide the roster as a reference. What worked for our team was having the score keeper keep the profiles, and hand them out upon request. Leaving them unattended at a table is less effective, and they wind up in the wrong hands.

Starting at 16u, we had simple "profile booklets" prepared for each exposure tournament. Since all the player's profiles were in one book, the college coaches could pick and choose as they desired.

Go to the sting ray web page. Lane Leedy does a very good job of setting up this both.
She played in college and is a high school and travel coach, plus a friend. I watched the 16U's playing last year and many college coaches were at the fields watching kids play. I will say that at this tourney I have seen more college coaches attending than any other tourney. Normally you don't get head coaches, but I did see a few last year.

This year the tournament will also be providing clear plastic bins on each backstop to hold the team's profile booklets.
