A girl's team is not playing on a particular weekend and she is asked to sub on another team, in an older age division. That team is playing in an ASA qualifier (ASA State). If her primary team intends to play ASA Nationals, does this have any negative consequences to it? I have read the rules, and I think I have a decent understanding, but I don't want to mislead, so I thought I would ask the OFC community.

It used to be once you were rostered in an older age group in a qualifier, you were stuck in that a group for the rest of the year.

Oddly I just spoke to the director here in Ohio about this a few weeks ago and if the team gets a qualifier or is rostered on a 12u team they are no longer aloud to move back to 10u.

But I would reach out to him if this is something you are about to embark on. I know he wouldn't mind answering that question instead of having to deal with it afterwards.

She would have to be released to play for the sub team then she could not go back to her team that qualified for ASA Nationals. This is what we were told for this situation. Our daughter's team has qualified for Nationals.

I know for a fact you can play at 16U all season on a registered ASA roster and then play at 14U ASA/USA because my daughter did it last season. You do have to have properly paper work and releases. And make sure you allot the time needed to get it all filed.

Not everyone knows or understands the rule change. We had issues with the Director of the ASA/USA 14U tournament and our local Director had to call him and set him straight. YOu need to be looking at the latest ASA rules as older books do not say the same thing (obviously).

It used to be if you played as a registered player on an older age group you were not allowed to drop back down.

Now I am gonna guess you can not play on both a 14U and 16U ASA/USA WS team. You likely must pick an age group.
