There are several different sanctioning bodies ( ASA, PGF, USSSA, etc ). Each is a little different but there generally is not a conflict to sub in a regular season tourney. Your DD is simply written in on the roster for that week and never really added to the team. It's different when you go to nationals as those are not standard rosters or unlocked rosters. If you have a question about a specific tourney ask your coach, but it's usually not a problem.

Right over here!
As stated above its different for each sanction. Its also clear as mud. Most coaches don't even understand the rules. There have been multiple issues in the last few years where misinterpretations of the rules lead to protests and teams having to forfeit either games or the $100 protest fee. The best advice is to contact the state director of what turney you are wanting to fill in at and then get their take. This way of there is a protest you can at least say you talked with someone in a position of authority. If you Google the state director you can easily find a contact. Ie. email or phone number.

Also, most tournaments will not allow you to sub on the same weekend for more than the team you came there with. Especially if its a sanctioned tournament, qualifier or not.
