I'd challenge her 2 times. Low and out and jam her. Then less aggressive. Simply giving a base up isn't commonly ok for me. Point is for her to learn to pressure. Then my job as a coach is completed... learn first, win second, and she will be awesome when the entire team is like facing #4 batters. Walking her..."who really won". (Most of this is assuming she is 14u or younger.)

A single beats you. Cleanup hitter is Adam Dunn with his whopping .223 average and 60 strikeouts. Are you saying you walk Adam Dunn to get to Ramirez who is batting .325? Dunn has more home runs, but who cares. All they need is a single.
