;DYay! We actually got our practice in today, and I have a 20 minute rotating shift to work with 3 girls at a time, then they move on to the hitting group or the fielding group. For young girls in a class 'B' (rec ball) program, with 7 indoor sessions left, we are focusing on a simple stepping style--in our small work area, I have set up 3 power lines and 3 low strike zone wall targets. We begin @about 8 feet away from the wall, check for proper grip on the ball, foot positioning on the rubber, shift weight back, stepping straight, landing on power line at 45 degree angle, brush ear w/bicep, keep wrist cocked on downswing, snap at the back leg, hand behind the ball, follow through. After x# of reps from 8' we move back to about 20', then to 30'(that is all the room that I have). I try to keep it Ernie Parker-like in the simplicity of what to show the girls and it seems to be working out well, a couple more of these sessions and I'll know if I'm on the right track here. I realize that most folks on this forum are at the travel ball level, so I don't know if you feel that this may not be detailed enough, or that I left out the push/leg drive, closing the hips, etcetera..They are beginners, and while I do show them certain drills to practice at home, I feel that they need to get in their full motion reps at this stage--I guess I'm sort of approaching this as almost a dance step (which is something that these girls relate to in a positive way.) ?:)With only 7 sessions left to do this, breaking down the motion with upper/lower body drills didn't seem to fit into our time frame, though I think they are excellent things to work on at home in front of a mirror (with a rolled-up sock). Any additional ideas/suggestions are welcome--I'll keep you posted as to how our girls are doing, thank you, everybody for your input and feedback, I think these forums are great! ;D ;D ;D

Sounds good, I'd like to try that, but it will be a major project just to set it up in our cluttered basement ;D
