On the rec based teams I do have two players per game go out for the umpire chat. They seem to get a thrill out of that.

Our HS has team captains but it has noting to do with leadership skills. I am not sure of the criteria the coach chooses but it has usually been a bad thing. Many girls are just too mean to each other at this age. I like it when they are all equals, we never have captains during the summer. I rarely send a player out for the pregame unless it happnes to be an injured one that cannot play. Sometimes, usually if it is a championship game, I will send the whole team.

We have never had team captains in high school and it wouldn't work.. I'm not a fan of team captains in high school.

On your High School team do you have team captains ?

Do you just give it to upperclassmen even if they do not have solid leadership abilities ?

Do you think it is a good idea to give kids control to yell at other kids?

Love seeing Upper Classmen that are qualified show leadership or pushed to show leadership. BUT NEVER given permission to YELL at the other kids. Saw that happen the other night, and immediately the entire team divided into camps after the yelling and sure enough, a couple errors ensued.

If there is YELLING to be done, that is ONLY the Coach.
