IFA is $120 per team. $50.00 deductable. Runs Jan 1st to Dec 31st. The insurance goes with the coach... who after August tryouts sends in a "new" roster and the insurance follows that "new" team until Dec 31st.

We, at IFA, are working on an August 1st, 2009 to August 15th, 2010 policy for the future to accomodate the Ohio softball season.

Practice site insurance is $25.00 for places that require some kind of insurance for their site if you are practicing there.

Insuarnce is good for all sanctioning body tournaments.

Warren, I used Bollinger out of Chicago, about 120 per team. It covers all members part of team for all ssanctions and all practice facilities.

ASA is as low as $6.00 per girl plus $12.00 for one coach. This also includes your ASA sanctioning fee which is normally $20.00. If you have 12 players and one coach the coast is $84.00.... if you figure you are saving your sanctioning fee the net cost is $64.00.
This covers all softball events. If one of these players is playing on a different ASA team throughout the year, she is still covered.

ASA Insurance through Bollinger is a very good value. Payouts are done very quickly. Insured players and coaches are covered during travel also.

Fast2Home, is that true? $84 a team thru ASA (+ sanction). That's like 30% cheaper than IFA. I wonder if the coverage is 30% less.

Yes, very true.... I just insured 18 of my own teams..... trust me, I am tight with the dollar and always looking for the best value. We will have over 20 Wizard teams again this year and I need to save every dollar per team that I can. ASA will save me more than $1000.00 in our program with their insurance. That will cover about 40 days of heating bills at Wizard World last month.

We were also pleasantly surprised to find out we could insure our whole team through ASA this way. I think (and we are 1 team in PA) we paid $7/player and $8/coach.

Has anyone ever had to use their insurance??? In my 12 years of ball I know of no one that has ever used it.

Yes, I have seen it a number of times.
ASA as I am sure all others are secondary insurance. It covers what your primary insurance does not. There is also $2,000,000 liability insurance with it.

I had a player that had to use it last summer and was pleased with the way Bollinger/ASA worked. I have only ever used Bollinger so not familiar with others. What I love about the ASA insurance is being able to get ID Photo cards that are proof of age and also act as the players insurance information when needed. I personally like obtaining two cards for each player. The players keep a card and I have one in my coaches binder for tournament needs or incase of a lost card. Fastest way of getting through the sign-ins at ASA Nationals as well.

I'm not sure where you guys are getting your insurance via ASA for so cheap.. here is the reply I got from the Ohio Metro ASA person who sells the insurance.

Hi Larry,
The $250 deductible is $127.50, including all members (12 players / 3 coaches)
The $0 deductible is $172.50 for the team.
The total cost listed above for either insurance includes your ASA Sanction / Registration.

Where can I get signed up for these $60-90 team policies?

It all depends on the policy you want... the non-photo i.d. card policy is $6.00 per player and $12.00 for one coach. This is the minimum.... if you add photo i.d. cards and more coaches, the price goes up.
Call me if this doesn't clear it up.

Not that I am a little biased - but ASA insurance is the best. I have done a cost comparison with the NSA, USSSA - looking at coverages and deductibles.

Look at the others and what they cover when you are comparing.
ASA's insurance with medical & liability far exceeds all others.
$250,000 Medical and either a $0 deductible or $250 deductible
Liability used to be $2 Million and in 2008 they raised the liability to $5 Million.

If you have questions or need help securing your teams insurance - call / email either myself (Metro Cincinnati), Warren Jones (Ohio), Clyde "Shorty" Brewer (Metro Dayton) or Donn Addante (Metro Cleveland)

Here's are email addresses for all the commissioners in Ohio:

Donn Addante - Email: donnaddante_clevelandasa@msn.com
Clyde (Shorty) Brewer - Email: cbrewerasa@copper.net
Warren Jones - Email: warrenjones@zoominternet.net
Patty Amrein - Email: cincysoftball@fuse.net

As far as paying out on claims submitted, I can't recall one single issue over the past 20+ years.

Hope this helps!
