Texting, how many per month?

At a recent game the parents started talking about the 12u's and their texting habits. Throw out your childs texting volume and see where you stand. I thought 9,000 texts per month was insane till I heard another parent say their child had just over 18,000 in one month!!!

My DD was averaging 12,000 - I found out when I called Sprint about my bill and wanted to lower my plan to 1,500 txt's / month... the CSR asked if I had a DD ... When I told her yes and the phone number - she told me she was at 4,000 txt msgs - and we were a week into the month ... We stayed unlimited...

DD in college averages in the 5,000 range per month, but she goes to school in TN with a boyfriend on Alaska. Youngest DD texts a little over 1,000 per month, but she sets her own restrictions on her texting.

at this rate... our DD's will have to take/submit verbal quizzes/tests/exams to prove they can communicate w/o typing al wrds in shrt vrsns. Ol'Skool spelling tests will have to be implemented too.

I am texting parents, players, and family all the time. When softball season hits I probably have about 40 - 50 a day between the girls, my kids and work.

2 teenage girls, 1 teenage boy and 2 parents, last time i checked over 40,000 per month

Our texting is unreal..... not just the DD but the whole family. I text a ton and so does my husband and 12U. Just waiting for my 9U dd to catch on to it. We have to have an unlimited plan.

I'm such a dinosaur. I never got the purpose of the whole texting thing, thus have it turned off on my phone. Half the time I never remember to take my phone with me, so even that I have limited use for, at least compared to most. I watch these kids thumbing away every chance they get, just shake my head. Guessing the typical message goes something like..... what's up .... nuthin.... how bout u? nuthin

I realize I'm the odd man out on this, but I just don't get it. To each their own.

One girl on a team last year was averaging 28,000 per month and could type a full message and have the phone closed and in her pocket before I could type 4 letters.

When I was in school "the stone age when typewriters didn't have correction tape in them (but were electric)" it was a challenge to type 30 words a minute to get the high school credit. Now I think some of these kids can text over 120 words per minute on a key board the size of my EMPTY wallet.

But they can't spell now. It was 35 wpm at my school and you couldn't have any errors. Of course when I learned it was on a manual typewriter (electrics were out but our school hadn't upgraded yet) LOL
