all depends on how high you are aiming. maybe some kid wants to play pac-10 ball.

Exactly. Unless college showcases here in Ohio start asking PAC-10 and SEC coaches to come to our showcases, we need to go to them. I read somewhere here, if a dd wants to go after a dream and play for another state, the she needs to go after it. I've already contacted a PAC-10 school, and they told me what I needed to do to get my dd exposure there. My dd was tickled pink when they actually responded. She was like a kid on a sugar high in a candy store. It wasn't constant flying there either. It was go to their camps, maybe participate in a tourney or two there. Most importantly, the camps. Until that time, I plan on getting her the best training here. She also has a back-up plan if she doesn't reach her goal.

In response...I am not bashing anyone. Just giving a sociological response to the question posed by Mike...with a hint of sarcasm.
Why is it that people feel the need to critique the extra efforts of others?
Sorry if anyone misconstrued my post as a bash, because that wasn't my intent. But I feel I pretty much nailed the response to his question.

Well my honest opinion is that most people root for the underdog and chastise the favorite. Most of this stems from the fact that those who can, continously rub it in the faces of those who can't. Maybe not intentionally, but the effect is just the same.
We all wants what is best for our DD's or our families for that matter, so when someone else can give a little more and get a little further ahead there is animosity and jealousy. Sorry folks but it's just that simple. Nobody likes a braggart, and everyone roots against them. So be humble and keep it to yourself, or be willing to take the criticism.

Playing Teams at a National Level allows you to have a measureable at a Nat'l level nothing else if you do nothing with it.Being Competetive at a Nat'l level is a whole different game it means youve accepted the personal challenge to be competetive at that level and now it's time to skin that cat.Been that route and it was fun but short lived most people who make that commitment bale on year 2 only leaving a few who are willing to make the personal and family sacrifice the following year. I would suggest making a commitment like this during the last 2 years jr and sr for both exposure and easier on the financial commitment when you save that long to get there.I personally think it could be a financial burden when 15 G's a year is a big commitment for just one person in the family.

Lady Knights... You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. None of the above posts were written by her parent. I am her parent and as you can see, I haven't posted on this message board in a VERY long time and never to brag about my kid. We made the move as quietly as we could. I have no control over what other people post.

Travel ball has afforded her a wealth of life experiences that I know will benefit her well beyond softball years. She's made great friends, met amazing poeple, and traveled to parts of the country I could only have dreamed of at that age. Unfortunatley, she will also have to learn to deal with people like you. That's life.

Don't let him stir you up. You keep doing what your are doing, and let these armchair advisors spend there days on this board, and not out actively getting seen by some very high end universities.

You and your family have a great Christmas and we'll see you soon...

WOW......I don't know what else to say...some of you are just clueless!!

Others of you such as "triplethreat" really do understand what's on the other side, over the wall, across the horizon, on the flip side. This young lady, name I will keep under wraps by request of her parents has broken through and is in a whole other world of softball!! God bless her, and it will pay off for her if it hasn't already! There are more of you here in Ohio....you just have to make that leap, or jump in order to experience what the other side has to offer your daughter. Now I have to be honest when I say you need to have a daughter that has got some special talent and drive to make it to the other side and I mean that so be careful. You don"t want to set her up to fail either.

There are more kids out in Ohio that can do what this young lady has done... they have the talent and drive. Forget the money issue's, sorry that's just an excuse...no hiding guys...you want this level than you WILL find the money! SO DO IT!!!

Good Luck Ohio!! Good luck to the bright future of this young lady in softball!

John

Note: I would like to also see some of those former team mates of hers get to the other side with her.....;)

Good luck to this young lady, and all other young ladies that commit themselves to this level. I applaud the parents to make the sacrifice needed. If every parent would sacrifice for their children what I assume these parents have to sacrifice (both time and money), then many of our social ills would disappear. I wish that all parents had the resourses to do this if their daughters had the talent and dedication. Good luck!

That is why if you look at a lot of college rosters even big schools have a majoity of recruits from in state.

Between the money and time commitment alone not many families can swing it.

And after all the money is spent and there is no offer it's just not a risk most people can take.

Some of us here in Ohio are trying to broaden our range.
As a first year 16's this coming summer we will be playing in 6 states and then 3 more in the fall.
The following summer we will play Gold.
The real challenge I see is financing this journey not finding athletes capable of competing.
A wealthy sponsor would be nice. Anybody know one?

Good luck on your schedule....... we let alot of things go and did without as a family to make sure she got to those other states to play in front the coaches she was interested in. You can do anything if it is important enough to you, As time starts to draw to a close for us and we can see the end in sight my biggest piece of advice to anyone is, take the chance, make the memories, enjoy the ride............ youll remember it as long as you live
