Having the feel of your fav bat in your hands.
Putting on you cleats.
Seeing the morning dew across the grass.
Smacking your glove with your fist.
Lowering the bill of your visor as you run out on the field.
Playing catch with your best friend on the team to loosen up.
Playing under the lights.
Tasting the dirt as you slide head first into 3rd.
Patting a teamate on the back after a great play.
Tossing the ball around the infield after an out.
Getting the game winning hit.
Making the game winning catch.
Throwing the game winning last pitch.
A close play at the plate.

The smell of softball in the morning.

Elliott.

Recognizing that a line drive hit right at you is not too short, not too long, ... JUST RIGHT (for an out)
Recoognizing that a line drive that YOU just hit is OVER the Outfielder's head ... touch 'em all
Watching a close 2 strike pitch go by and NOT hearing anything from Blue (whew! ... LIFE!!)
Spotting the chang-up, ... EARLY!
Having one of those days where the spin on the pitched ball is "easy" to see
The sound of the Catcher's mitt cracking loudly (for your pitcher) early in the morning
Seeing the opposing Catcher throw a rainbow (more than one though!) down to 2nd in warm-ups
The girls messing up my scorebook with more ink, and using more than one column for an inning (or two)

Watching kids improve over time, and help others ...

Theres nothing like:
Meeting a group of guys at a tournament and telling them your DADDY DICE!

Watching ********* take his team to a B tournament and cleaning up!

A bigmouth coach try and rattle the umpires...because there so called top bracket team is laying an egg in a semi final game!

Watching Wgman21 tear up a breakfast buffet and then wondering why he's bloated!...Buy the way it was Wgman21 who blew up the porta-potty at Uncle Stans!!!!Dont let him fool you!.........oh yea and watch that heavy foot!!!!!

Having your kid throw a punch at you at a Speedway gas station and falling over the hose infront of a full gas station!
I dont know what it is lately but DADDY is having a hard time staying on his feet these days!

There is nothing like...

Watching the 16U Ohio Swarm coaches (all 6 or 7 of them) get in their cars and head home early on a Saturday. Kind of nice to play the better part of a day with all of those "3-2-1 Gimme a WHO-AHHH" cheers.

Daddy, Was that YOU walking around at Uncle Stan's with the black tee shirt that said "I am over here now" ??

I passed right by somebody as described above, and wondered if that was you? But, I had food with me and chose to protect my food instead.

If that was you, then ... never mind ....

There is nothing like........seeing Dr. Evil leaving a well fought game and not shaking hands with the girls or coaches in the quarter finals after the lose.

There is nothing like........seeing two 12u teams unite against Dr. Evil in the semi finals. One on the field and one beside them at the fence line.

There is nothing like........seeing Dr. Evil lose once again in the semi finals to a first class Tallmadge team without shaking hands with the girls or coaches that sent him home.

There is nothing like........seeing the team that won against Dr. Evil in the semi finals have such class in the finals that was canceled due to rain.

There is nothing like........two teams taking home trophies that did it the right way. With class and respect for one another.

Well, now, Daddy, it is sort of like spotting Bigfoot. You just don't know what to expect, and teasing the creature with food just may not be smart. ;D ... Darn, wish I had a movie camera to get some grainy footage, from a safe distance. Next time, I will say "hey" ... and hope that I don't get that beatin' that I deserve ... ;)

you mean there are still teams left to play at GAPPS this year :-X

maybe Daddy can spike Johnnie's Walking taco with the uncontrollabe desire to spout out profane nursery ryhmes....

we should all be so lucky with Dice, his persona could have been Lenny Bruce, or, egad!, Robin Williams from patch adams! he's somewhat dated, but I'll take Dice over Vanilla Ice any day...

as for this thread

there's nothing like...

getting the Doom coach fired up
meeting new coaches and teams
seeing my DD hit the ball
double plays
catchers who leap for the pop-up bunt
coaches who congratulate the other team's good plays
seeing girls from previous teams do well
seeing parents from previous teams

Losing a close elimination game (BATTLE) in the Semi's of our own Tournament.....

Shaking hands with the young ladies and Coaches from the Opposing Team.

Then, Watching our entire team (including Coaches) go into the opposing teams dugout to shake hands with a player that was injured during the game that was not able to walk after the game.

And watching the player, Dad/Coach, and everyone watching get choked up!!!

PROUD to be an OUTCAST Fastpitch Coach!!!

There is nothing like a 3-2 Change-up freezing the batter for a called third strike.

There's nothing like:

Rolling down the windows and smelling fresh air while driving to Timbuktu for softball.

Getting to the park and seeing all the colorful uniforms and hopeful faces.

Watching your team run onto the field for the first inning of the first game.

Realizing you forgot the battery for your camera and then discovering there's actually a Radio Shack in Timbuktu.

Winning.
