Third Annual Ohio Hawks Early Bird Challenge ASA Eastern National Qualifier. 10u, 11u, 12u, 14u, 16u and 18u age divisions. Tournament will be held in Middletown (between Cincinnati and Dayton, OH) at Smith Park (8 field complex). MAY 29th-30th 2010

Format for this tournament is a four game guarantee with 3 pool play games and a single elimination round determining the winner. The entry fee for this tournament is only $375 per team. The 10, 11, 12 and 14u divisions will be ASA "B" only, with the winner of each division receiving an ASA "B" ENQ berth. The 16u and 18u divisions will be open with the winner receiving their choice of an "A" or "B" ENQ berth.

The city of Middletown is centrally located between Cincinnati and Dayton with plenty of attractions and entertainment. Smith Park has 8 newly refurbished ball fields, a fishing lake, free water park, plenty of shade and many warm up areas. Tournament is Saturday and Sunday only just as it has been the previous two years. Last year we had 29 teams in the 10, 12 and 14u divisions we carried or just shy of 10 teams per division. We are expecting that to increase this year and we hope to carry the older divisions as well. Last year there was a local tournament on this date that had fourteen 16U teams on this date and they are no longer holding this tournament on this date.

We were at both the Finale and a set of fall RR scrimmages at Smith Park. This is a great location. Last year, the Hawks did not charge any gate fees. Is that going to be the same this year?

This year there will be a $5 per car/bus/RV fee for the tournament. The city runs the concessions so we needed to do this to generate revenue. We hope this does not deter teams from attending this year.

We also reduced the EB fee $25 to $375 to help out teams. Gate will be $5/day or $8 for weekend pass.

Scheduleing for the 14, 16 and 18U for this tournament will not be announced until May 23rd. This will allow teams that still have players in High School to pull out of this tournament with out affecting the scheduling. We will issue a full refund to the older teams that can not attend this tournament due to a high school softball conflict.

We hope this helps teams set their schedules for the 2010 season.

Thanks for the info on the other tournament....we are looking to add a tournament that weekend and not sure if we should play "A" or "B" as the team added 5 new girls to the team (moving up from 10U)....should be able to tell which we should enter once more teams are posted. According to one of the other threads on the OFC, one of teams entered in this tournament looks solid so I am wondering why they are playing B?

We hope that you can make it. We should have a solid turn out for both tournaments. If we get enough 12u teams we will separate them into 11u and 12u divisions.
