Could you please share your experience Coaching 1st base.

The DO and DON'T!

1.) Tips on Positioning yourself, When signaling a runner to run to 2nd.

2.) How do you help the 3rd base Coach?

3.) What are your responsibilities at 1st base?

I had the best (funniest) first base coach last year. When the girls would lead off, you could just hear him scream, "get back Get Back." I kept telling the girls that he was going to pass out from all that get back yelling.

The funny part is that they could be just one foot off the bag and he would still yell it.

Seriously good base coaches communicate through signs as well. I can't see everything and I'm not over there to see what he is seeing. He gives me a steal sign to question and then I will give it to everybody if we both agree.
