To the parents of all the girls trying out for HS softball. . .

Good to know there are so many coaches who put the success of the team ahead of diva attitudes and entitlement.

My main wish as a parent is that other parents would stay out of the mix. Beyond doing what is needed by the boosters for fundraising, parents should not be at practices, talking to coaches, or harrassing the AD.

My DD comes home every evening exhausted, aching, and quieter than she usually is. This is because she puts her heart and soul into every practice, worries about irritating the upper classmen, and making sure she adheres to every rule the coaches have set down. The DD appreciates the coaches' respect so she gives them more effort every day. She listens to them, makes whatever adjustments they ask for, and does it all with a smile.
Sadly she is often too tired to bring that smile home.

She does all this every day, as do so many other talented young ladies everywhere, because she loves the game and totally enjoys being on the "mound" (because it is the center of attention and that's her favorite place). Her favorite situation (so she has said more than once) is 1 out, bases loaded, then striking out the next 2. Such a head case!

All that said. Thanks to all coaches who are fair, acknowledge hard work, and challenge the girls to improve their skills and character.
