Here’s a short list of things that my parents said with the right intentions that I thought were goofy questions or comments. Love You Daddy and Mommy.
Honey are you tired? After playing five games in a row in 100°./ nope your baby girls good.
Honey does your face hurt? After getting hit in the face with a softball./why should it?
Honey does your knee hurt? After having a 250+ pound catcher landing on my knee because she fell on my leg when I was in the batter box./I wonder when the MRI results will be back? Crap a minor tear in my lateral meniscus.
Honey too bad that catcher wasn’t smaller./Thanks Dad
Honey that was a close game, you guys should’ve won./we should have mom, we didn’t even get a batter on base. We actually tied with the team 0-0.
And just in case you wondering yes it’s true usually when my parents ask me a question or say something directed toward me it always starts with honey.
Honey what did you think about that team they had an outstanding pitcher?/yeah mom you’re right it’s too bad we Mercy them in four innings she really help my BA.
When I was younger
Honey would you like to stop and get an ice cream?/ yeah dad, that’s a golden rule of softball you play and then you get ice cream.
Honey what did you think about your tryouts?/well mom I think I have more softball knowledge then the coaches hosting tryout. Glad the coaches didn’t hear me. It didn’t matter I didn’t make the team anyway.
Honey let me put a Band-Aid on that./later that day I’m getting seven stitches.
Unrelated to softball just goofy stuff.
My first date. Honey don’t kiss him./later that evening we’ll did you kiss him?/nope mom I didn’t he kissed me.
My first rode trip without parents and traveling with my teammates. Honey I’m sure everything will be OK./yeah I mean what could go wrong mom, four blondes in bikinis at the hotel pool after games checking out the cute guys.
Honey how was the road trip?/it was OK hey did you know they had a baseball tournament going on at the same complex we played at?
College Stuff
Hey we’re gonna be flying in to watch you play./should I tell them I got beach or beg the coach to let me play. Hey Coach we have a problem. Thanks Coach!
