Yikes, someone's gonna get grilled, I can see it coming. It's usually me so I'm going to say no comment!! To avoid sounding like a, what was it...an arrogant-you know what- and an elitist, I'll just smile and say you all are great!! ;)

I think it would help if you list what makes a team a Great organization. Total Wins, How they treat the kids, Size of Organization, Past reputation, Some teams may win but treat there kids bad. Parents in Organization etc.
Food for thought

I agree 100% more on reputation than anything else thats one thing thats hard to change is a bad rep. Parents come and go.Size is not as important becouse if a org. gets to big to fast it can loose sight of its original goals.jmho

yeah, I'll 2nd that. Reputation is way important and to me it's built upon "how you do what you do". That can lead to a huge response but I'll leave it at that.

Some questions: when you win or loose... how do the girls get talked to or talked at... are they crying... are they laughing... did the coaches "coach" or scream at them all weekend, all the time... and all you have to do to find out who has a good org is just talk to some of the parents in the walking taco line.. they will more than happy to fill your ear. I neeeever ask and I get ears full all the time and tryout times you have to tell them to stop cause I don't want to be liable for their info. Or talk to the the ones that left due to ageing up or wanting a different fit cause the grass was greener or financial capabilities have forced them elsewhere or they just wanted a different look which all are ok. I'm sure that will help this conversation. I'd also bet the "umpires" on here would like to chime in but probably won't :cap:.

Oh...this should get interesting. ;&

Answers will likely be all over the board. "Top Org" could mean different things to different people. When I think top org I think about those that are most competitive year after year. Size of the org doesn't mean much IMO. Some orgs are truly organized and function as an organization. Some are simply an org in name and the teams function on their own.

My shortlist would be the Lasers, Classics, Doom, Stingrays, ICE, MV Xpress, Buckeye Heat.... those all come to mind first. There are many that probably are as good or better but I just haven't seen them yet as my DD is still at 12U.

good winter topic . I'd give props to a couple Lasers , Buckeye Heat, Ohio Ice , Vikings Elite. TNT Explosion from WV. Stingrays , Static . Those are a few leaving out the current org my kid plays for. In no particular order either. But I do think the Lasers and Buckeye Heat do a great job of producing good solid teams with good coach's. should be a fun thread . MD

Looking at it from a parents/players perspective ... I would say the criteria would be to me...

Opportunities for my DD:
- Training - facilities and expertise of coaches or trainers working with them
- Relationships the organization has established within the softball community
- Is it an organization with a vision and direction
- Cost to participate, fundraising opportunities
- Level of talent within the organization, will my DD be pushed to get better
- Reputation within the SB community
- Schedule - do they get their teams in the right tourney mix and sanctioning body/division
- Communication - how do they communicate to the parents
- Access to practice fields on a regular, scheduled basis
- Growth and status - is the organization healthy - size does not matter, but health and forward thinking movement does.
- Does the org contribute back to the softball community? and community at large (charitable acts like visiting rest homes - all part of being a rounded Adult)
- Turnover - is it low, do their teams retain families and team structure

I see it as a long term relationship with the organization. In a sense you are betting your DD's success to them and expect them to be there for you as well.

that's not really 20, but those are some we see again and again. Not all on the list are powerhouses (some have very good teams in different age brackets, others as a whole). some seem to be on a decline while others probably deserve to be mentioned as well, or at least on the outside looking in. Some orgs get reputations, some good, some deservedly bad.

EMR year in and out is solid talent, Coaching, and performance and I don't see to much turn-over going on there either to often.
