The pitcher from Kilbourne might have the starting job locked up for next season. I saw her at Hilliard Davidson and looked good.

I know that pitcher. She is a great person. I doubt if she has the position locked up for next year as I am sure her coach will expect his pitchers to earn the spot.

As far as top freshmen pitchers, there are two I can think of. I am not going to mention one as I am not sure she is a freshman. The one I will mention is the pitcher for Johnstown.

That should be an interesting battle to watch as their starting pitcher this year was only a sophomore. Both are great kids and work hard.

Might also want to watch Horton at Thomas, only threw JV this year, but has the speed to challenge varsity hitting - if she works hard in the off season she could contend for a varsity slot next year.

I saw a couple of very good freshmen pitcher's this year.

Bethany M from Worthington Kilbourne
Delaney C from Johnstown
Amy B from Big Walnut
Pitcher from Heath (sorry I don't remember the name)
Pitcher from Lakewood (sorry again)

Those are 5 of the better ones in central Ohio.

A couple good ones are;

Sam G from Colonel Crawford and Delaney C from Johnstown.

A fast pitch doesn't mean anythiing without movement on the ball. A flat fast ball to some of the better hitters in the area (Hilliard Davidson's catcher, Thomas Worthington's centerfielder or Marysville's shortstop just to name a few) means a home run or a hard hit ball somewhere. If you only have one pitch and it's a fastball at 60 mph + , high school batters will catch up to it and hit it hard.

I have to agree with you Bink, I was fortunate enough to be around the Gillian family for a short time while they were in GP.Coach Cunningham let that one get away like he has done so many others.Has any of these other freshman pitched at the Varsity level this year and have they taken their team this far in the tourny. like she has.So I say top freshman pitcher in the state. She has O.S.U. written all over her.

I know your question was about the top freshmen in the state, but since there are no forums like this in Indiana I occassionaly visit this site. ?The best freshman pitcher in Indiana is Sara Evans. ?She plays for the 2nd ranked New Palestine Dragons, and the 16u Indy Diamond Chix. ?She's 14-1
with a .15 era. ?She has 121 ks in 86 innings, and hasn't
walked a batter yet this season. ?She plays in what's the toughest 3a conference in the state and her only loss was in 9 innings to the state's best team. ?She has beaten 7 teams
ranked in 4 A and 3A. ? I must admit I'm a tad biased since I'm her dad, and she kill me if she knew that I posted her stats. ?All I can say is that's it's been a fun year, and that none of the seniors tease her about being a freshman anymore.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot ?she started the year with a best of the best at Ringor. ?

Madison Hedderly from Dublin Coffman is another one to watch. She will most likely get the starting nod for the Rocks next year.

Delaney C from Johnstown
Pitches for JoeA 16U Heat team along with Byers (Westerville South) and Dauterman (Elmwood Bloomdale)

Abraham's team is stacked with talent from top to bottom in every position.

We saw Hedderly of Coffman pitch. Caught some JV players off guard with her speed. Actually, this year I saw a lot more JV pitchers with speed than I have in the past few years. It is good to see such great competition at the JV level--great for feeding into the varsity team too.

I was very impressed with Emily Schwable (sp?). She pitches for Colerain (GMC) and plays for the Tribe in the summer. I think she will be one to watch in the future!

Emily Schwaeble has been chosen by the Cinti. Enquirer All-City Team! Pretty exciting for a freshman

More congratulations to Emily! 2nd Team GMC, two new Colerain HS records--152 strikeouts and .82 ERA, and Colerain Defensive MVP of the Year. We are so proud of you Emily!!

Way to go Emily. That is pretty awesome regardless of being a Freshman.
