Top Freshman this year...

My top 2 that I have seen play are...

Julie Konieczny Catcher- Oak Harbor High School
Emily Kurfis Pitcher -Anthony Wayne High School

Personally I think the 2 best freshman in NWO regardless of postion, that is if you like Kids that can hit and play their postions lol, and I would say they would be at the tops of alot of lists throughout the state for freshman. ( I know Heat and 643dp can back me up on these two.)

Lets hear your top freshman, last year we had a great list with some fantansic Freshman from NWO we had 2 great Freshman pitchers in the NLL, 2 Great Freshman Hitters in the NWOAL and alot of other great freshman throughout the NLL, TCL, NWOAL etc who finished in the top 10s of their leagues in hitting....I am sure this year will be no exception.

this post brings up something i have wonderd, how many freshman actualy make varsity?

That all depends on first if theres a spot , can they fill it , and does it serve the Team to fill that spot as a freshman or wait and develop more at JV or Freshman team level.. >

I only got this opinion Only Because I know What, why my DD went through last Year. Which I think was best for her and her Team for the future for Both.

You're right Ex, it's many times about what the Varsity needs and who's coming in.

Sometimes like was stated above making the varsity is more about timing than talent at the Freshman level. Take a catcher that is a Freshman . You have a JR on your team that was all Ohio at that position. Let her play JV and groom her. We have this situation with a couple of Freshman this year. None will probably play varsity, but all played travel ball and are good players..

FYI, lol, my post never said top freshman that will play varsity ;D I was just asking who the top incoming frosh were that people saw the past summer etc. Last year there were a 100 names, this year nobody is talking about this class. Maybe this class' parents to make accounts on OFC, then make up another account so they can talk about their kids some more lol

Ok, here is a few I know:

Hummel - Genoa (decent pitcher, big bat)
Plummer - Perrysburg (Throws good junk, very hard worker)
Andrews - Whitmer (Catcher, 2nd, 1st, should make an impact with WHS)
Cordrey - Springfield (good all around player)

I may be able to dig a few more out later.

I usually don't brag about my kids on here, but since it's for h.s. I'll bite lol

Allmon: Grove City - OF/2b
Turkovich: Central Crossing - 2B/SS/C
Rohr: Perry Massillon - P/1B (maybe some SS for h.s.)
Sells: Buckeye Trail - C/3B/OF

All of them should contribute to their teams and I look for them to make some noise in 08!

No worries lol, I just remember last year hearing about all these freshman, and now I am assuming most were just talking about their own kids lol. My kid is not a frosh, and I just wanted to hear about some more up and coming kids.

There will be a freshman pitcher in the Wayne County Athletic league that will make a lot of noise this year. Should be exciting.
