Some less known things to do:
Butterfly house in Whitehouse - It is a greenhouse with tons of exotic butterflies. It is really cool.
Fossil Park in Sylvania - It is owned by a local quarry and they cart in tons of rock that you can dig for fossils. Best part, it is free.
University Parks trail or Wabash Cannonball trail Both are long paved paths. Great for biking, roller blading or walking. They are each about 20 miles long.
Any of the metroparks. They are beautiful with hiking paths. Some offer horseback riding or paddle boating.

The Toledo Zoo is one of the 10 best in the country. It is always fun even for the older kids.
For eateries...
As mentioned, Mancy's but I like the Mancy's Bluewater Grille or MAncy's Itialian better than the steakhouse. Just my opinion. But for a team they are all on the pricey side.
Ralphies is a good sports Pub that would be good for the family.
HJ's prime cut is a less pricey steakhouse that is good.
On the docks, we like Real Seafood Company and Cousino's Old Navy Bistro
Tony Packo's is cool, but the one on Front is in not so nice of an area though the atmosphere is the best of all of their locations. Personally, I would suggest the one in Sylvania for ease of getting to and the food is the same.
Chinese: We like New Empire in Spring Meadows
Shopping:
I'd suggest Westfield Franklin Park or Levis Commons.
What weekends do you plan to be there? I could see if I could look up area events for you.
