Parma, we loved that format of 60 min plus the next inning. It did stop any stalling, but acutally this year, I am not sure I have had another coach or team stall on us. But we have seen our share of stalls in the past. Thanks for the post

I have heard more teams wanting 90 minute time limits and then I.T.B. 60 minutes?? Are you kidding me??? We went to 90 minutes this year in all of our tournaments and never heard a peep about stalling and most teams did complete games.

With the 60 min then finish the innging and then plus one more inning games were still 5 to 7 innings and 75 to 85 minutes long...At 14u States we played 2 of our 3 games 6 full innings in the 1hr time limit.. If the coaches have the girls hustle on and off the field you will get to play alot of innings.. I have noticed in the 80 minute or 90 minute time limits the teams still only play 5 to 7 innings because the coaches and players dont hustle on and off the field...there is no urgency

Hustling on and off the field is a choice by the teams. They can chose that in 60 minutes or 90 minute time limits. Umpires can also promote that hustling in either format. TD's can make their decision what they want to do as teams also have that choice. I will probably not send our teams to 60 minute time limit tournaments.

to each there own, some teams like to play in a tournament with 20 to 40 other teams in there own age group. Other teams dont care if there is only 4 teams in there age group as long as they win it and get to play full games..

There could be 24 teams in an age group and 1/2 of the teams will play 4 different teams in a course of a 4 gg .... and then go home... so four (4) games of 70 minute ball and be happy...

Then if you have 5 teams and play a round robin... same thing you play four different teams. Better odds of winning something nice... like hoodies, etc.. Not around the ball park waiting to play.. all weekend...

It's all in the mindset of the coaches.... blah, blah , blah bigger tournament... and then when they think about it... and the fact yes it might have been 24 teams.. but 1/2 of the teams ( 12 teams) play 4 different teams and go home... the same ratio of the smaller event.

At least with the smaller tournaments... most play full games and when it rains.. there isn't a bunch of teams and games to have to worry about getting in.. versus with smaller numbers.. you got room to work magic so everyone can get their games.

Todd your tournament was the only one out of 12 that we played in that used that format i must say it was the best way even though never had a issue with stalling this year.
