Have a girl i know transfered from a privet high school after two years back to the school district were she grow up. She lives in another school district and open inrolled. The A.D. said that she could play sports but today at tryouts for VBall he told her she could not play for 1 year. I heard you could do this but you had to get a release from the privet school and the school distrct she lives in. can some one show me what the rule is in the OHSAA, as she wants to play Vball and Softball. Thanks

fpdad06,

I wont even attempt to give an answer to this, but the following link does have many situations covered. ?It seems that various circumstance could come into play that could work both ways. ?I think the actual situations for various circumstances begin at 4-7-1. ?

http://www.ohsaa.org/general/about/Bylaws.pdf

Hopefully you can get some understanding of students situation and be able to get the correct answer from someone.

Good luck,

Ed

fpdad06,

Follow the link that Ed provided, see section 4.7.2 exception #7 (page 48). The young lady is permitted to play under this exception.

She should be able to play - by the above rules. We had a boy at our highschool last year who transferred the day before the first game - never practiced a day and he played (and started) varsity.
