While you are doing all this it is important for her to practice the things they will be doing at tryouts. Many organizations pitch to the players using machines. Is she used to that? I, and most everybody else here, could list a list of "standard" tryout drills that are used, and some that are not so common but do show something specific. If you are interested in that just say and I'll be you will get a good list.

I would love a list. as for hitting off machines she goes to a hitting coach once a week and he does tee work following by machine work.

Who is your hitting coach? PM me if you don't want to say in this forum. If it is a number of ones that I know they can give you many insights about how tryouts are conducted.

Different teams do it differently but there are some things you can do to generically get ready for a tryout.

- Work on getting to the field, stretching, warming up her arm then taking grounders from the left side, probably third base. Shows fielding, arm strength and accuracy. Could also field some bunts from that side. Give her a grounder, make her go stand in the grass, wait a minute, then do another. Do something similar from SS and 2B. Rarely do they want them to do it from 1B.

- Go to the outfield and catch various fly balls. Again get one, go to the sideline for a minute then do another. Don't allow her to get in a groove by doing one after another. Some teams use a machine for this to get a consistent fly ball. Hit a few easy ones, very high ones, ones where you have to break right, left or back.

- Timed runs from Home to 1B, Home to 2B, Home to 3B, 1B to Home, etc. Also running to first, rounding it, then diving back or taking second based on what a 1B coach says.

- Hitting is commonly done from a machine. Not always, but commonly. Practice warming up then stepping in and taking 10 cuts. She should have observed how the pitches are coming across so she knows where to stand to get good pitches. Ignore where she normally stands at the plate, adjust to the machine's pitch location. Do 10 cuts then take a 5 minute break. Do it all again. Do that so you again don't allow her to get in a groove. She needs to get up there and show something, even if it is just good form. She will probably have to bunt the first few. Don't waste these pitches and opportunity to show off great form and good skills. If she can bunt one down one line and the other down the other line. Above all make sure it is put into play.

- If she pitches or catches she will be asked to stay and do some things for that.

Anybody else got some general good advice?
