Parents take the time to bring their dd to a try-out; the coach/organization should give the courtesy of a phone call to notify a girl whether she made the team or not. Very bad manners displayed by some teams.
MV Express: organized but should be up-front about how many spots open--did get a call
Vipers: not impressed at all with the tryout, we took the time to come more than once, no call
Diamond Dominators: totally unorganized try-out; the players weren't even trying to catch balls, girls mouthy with the coach, did not bring daughter back for another day; if that is what returning players act like at a try-out, I don't want to see what they do at real practice or in games--NOT IMPRESSED.
Storm: organized, fun try out, did get a call
Cincy Doom: looked like a full roster when we arrived, no call back
I also think that girls who played on the team the year before should not show up for a try out in their uniform. The playing field should at least appear to be even.
Pitching machines are a MUST; it evens the chances of getting a decent pitch to hit
Coaches should speak with each girl at the tryout and find out where she likes to play
Teams should have printed materials when you arrive complete with costs, travel schedule practice times
I don't know how some teams are able to get new players when they are not up front with people who take the time to show up and spend several hours and a couple of weekends trying out for them.
AT LEAST CALL A KID AND BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO SAY SHE DIDN'T MAKE THE TEAM.
My dd will be playing for one of the above teams and we are thrilled to be part of the organization
