Umpire Lynching

Had an umpire yell what I thought was "foul ball" on a ball fielded by my 3rd baseman. She thought the same thing and didn't throw the ball. When girl stayed at first I questioned the plate umpire that he yelled "foul ball." He informed me that he had yelled "fair ball" and the runner was safe. Would have been third out had she thrown the ball, so next batter hits a three run bases clearing double. He is lucky I left my rope at home!!!

That would tick me off too, I had an ump point foul but didnt say anything, so I just kept my girl going realizing he just made a quick mistake. He atleast did not compound it by yelling fair ball hahaha, never heard of such a thing outside of when we scrimmage and have to have parent umps....they atleast work for free.

Umpires are getting less and less each year or the good ones are moving over to baseball anymore.

Where you get your umpire base is from the boys and girls growing up umpiring the local rec leagues, etc.... Problem is they witness these half-witted parents who live their lives through their kid's ball playing and act like complete idiots sometimes.

I say witness .... as then when they get older they get away from umpiring expecting it to be worse ( parent wise ) in the upper ball... which can be the case sometimes and we all know this... so they give up on umpiring and there is no one to take the role.

So then what you have left is the newbies that come onboard.. entering the schools with the thought they already know everything because "they played ball"... and not listen and go make easy fundemental mistakes on the fields.

I was at a class up North awhile back. Some of the most stupidest questions were asked by umpires or "future" umpires at the clinic. Absolutely funny stuff.

Thank goodness the idiots were from up North. Maybe they will blend in somewhere in a tournament and not be noticed or hidden by the TD...LOL

If you don't see these parents settle down and watch the game instead of being loud mouths... you'll gonna see more and more good umpires go to baseball. Now, that a fact... I'm just being honest with you all. It has been a trend for the past two years.. especially when the older baseball umpires are giving it up which creates that opening.

Or the good umpires are traveling to Indiana and West Virginia to do tournaments because those TD are begging for good umpires and pay well and put them up in a motel.
