Using a rosin bag

I was wondering why i never seem to see ASA pitchers or high school pitchers use a rosin bag, however at the college level they can use one. Is there a rule out there about using one.

If I remember right, in ASA, a pitcher is allowed to use a rosin bag but the bag must remain on the field. It cannot be taken to the dugout between innings.

That's what I remember but I might have it confused with another sanction.

One of our pitchers this weekend had to go find a rosin bag. Humidity was high and she was sweating very bad causing ball to slip.

Had an ump try to make her keep it in her sliding shorts at first, but after we told him it was "Part of the field" he agreed so she kept it behind her. :)

Rosin bags are part of the field. Some pitchers sweat more than others and need to keep their hands dry. Personally they made my hands too sticky.

The rosin bag must remain on the ground when the pitcher actually using it is pitching. She may take it to the dugout with her when the inning is over.

Speaking ASA, besides rosin they do allow what they call "approved drying agents" such as Gorilla Gold. Unlike the rosin bag, which must be kept on the ground, an "approved drying agent" must be kept in the pitcher's pocket.

Thanks again, Bret. DD just started using the rosin bag, and we weren't sure what was copacetic and what wasn't.
