WCWS - Who do you like?

See Bear shut down my other thread:cool:. Made the drive from Lexington to Springfield yesterday and will be heading on over to OKC right after breakfast this morning. I was hoping to be cheering on my Wildcats, but alas, except for a flurry in game 2 this weekend, their bats left them and Cal is heading to OKC. (Not sure that I'd have gone back to my game one pitcher after what I saw in game 2.)

Without UK, I guess I'll have to cheer for Florida (better than cheering for Tenn or Lville, but not by much). Who will you be rooting for and why?

Alabama, because Pat Murphy is a great coach and super nice person and because Alabama knocked my alma mater out of the quest for the World Series.

Baylor, because I love to see an academically challenging university succeed in athletics, because they took a chance on a JUCO player who didn't speak any English when she arrived at the JUCO, and because of the spunk of two catchers: 1) the one who fractured her facial bones on a foul ball that bounced straight up into her face but who returned the next day to root the team on; and 2) the one who stepped up to replace the starting catcher. Oh and a pitcher who is allowed to hit home runs also makes this team attractive to me.

Without UK or GA (those ultra cool helmets), I guess I'll have to cheer for Bama. I have a strong feeling it's gonna be Bama & ASU in the final with Bama as the underdog - I'm with Bama for all the marbles...

Lol....when I first read your post I thought you wrote "academically challenged" and I'm thinking......"That's not nice! I know you went to Stanford and all but geez, Baylor's a great school!":lmao::lmao::lmao:

lol. Each of those "because" statements stands on its own. Baylor is a great and challenging academic institution. And it still took the risk on that JUCO student, who succeeded both in the classroom and on the softball field.

I admire the teams with aggressive hitting and aggressive base running. That's how you beat great pitching. A good way to lose a game is leaving the bat on your shoulder and tentative base running. I've seen a lot of both with the eliminated teams.

I'll be rooting for the SEC in hopes they get their first WCWS championship, but ya gotta watch out for ASU.

So tired of hearing that the only team to win it east of the Mississippi is Michigan, that as long as it is a team this side of the river I'll be happy ==>> Guess I be rooting for Alabama or Florida.

We are rooting for Oklahoma, Alabama, Missouri and Florida. My dd is making her first trip to watch the games with her Grandma-We got lucky and got seats in the section right behind home plate:yahoo:

Has anyone ever been to the games? Any tips anyone want to share once she gets there?
