i think some of this is getting off subject, this is for ondeck useage to stretch and get loose, I think it depends on the age and development of the child as to even use a weighted bat when in the on deck circle. DD at 13 just used her first weighted bat on deck and if I remember when we were kids in late 70's and early 80's we didn't have doughnuts until high school. We didn't even own our own bats, we used what was in the green coach's bag until little league. LOL

Keep in mind in softball most weighted objects and attachments are illegal! See above post. A coaches dd , took one on deck last year at ASA tourney, so not all coaches are aware of this. Easy take them out of the equipment bag and it won't happen. Any bat taken on deck must be certifield and on the approved bat list.
